Life usually gives me lemons, but tonight I received a lemon tree. The strap of the left pair of my favorite shoes is broken. Someday I will learn to admit defeat. I have finished the first week of my job working at andrew jackson elementary near SDSU, and I love it. Saturday I attended CPR&First Aid class from 8:30 - 4:30 because it is the only free day I have, and certification is a necessity when working with children. I wish that Silva did not leave, but I am so thankful that Venice will be an SG. Tonight I cannot sleep. My belly aches, and I feel that I may topple over at any given instant. I am worried, concerned, and anxious but it is something over which I now have no control. I don't like the thought of losing control. I am tired and blue. I want to give up, but don't know what else there is I can truly willingly give up on. I will start another job this week (I will have 2 sources of income now) and it will involve stocking. I will be an overnight stocker. I will work between the hours of midnight and six or seven or eight in the morning. I don't want to, but I need the extra money this Christmas. I am frustrated when I turn on the TV and see the same old rehashing of dirt and debris between the Dems & Reps. I will take a day off from work to be one of those elderly poll people. I'll be at the election site at Grand Ave. not the one in Pacific Beach but the ghetto one in La Presa. I was a poll worker a few years ago (sophomore year in college), and I found it to be a very long day but a successful one. Even with success, I'm finding that I lose much more often than I win. Winning seems to be everything. The output of effort isn't enough. "Winning isn't everything" is a saying perpetuated by: 1) people who don't win or 2) well-intentioned people who wish to give hopeless consolation to people who don't win. Last year this week I was on a road trip with my boy. We drove from San Jose,CA to Reno,NV to Hurricane,UT to Dallas,TX to New Orleans,LA and back. Why those particular stops? Only my boy and I will ever know. On that road trip I was pulled over for speeding by Texan cops twice. I don't like Texan cops.

I'm glad you found work that agrees with you. I'll spare you the lemonade stand jokes/advice. I notice that you haven't updated much lately either. Are you having the post-election depression too or are your two jobs keeping you pretty busy?

Winning really isn't everything. Perspective is very important. For instance, the proverbial phyrric victory. For a more concrete example, watch elimidate. 4 people going tooth and nail to 'win' a loser they wouldn't have wanted away from the camera lights or competition. You can learn alot about the robot-monkeys on reality dating shows.
