Standard Catholic weddings = Looooong. There was a gap between the conclusion of the mass and the reception, and I had time to go home, so I did. The reception was at 3pm, with an hour of free bar drinks which was a complete hit. There were long lines of guests waiting for their turn to plaster themselves. At 4pm, the doors to the reception hall were opened, and we went in like a herd of sheep. The decor was fantabulous - customized centerpieces with cream-colored roses, and so many fresh flowers of the same light yellow hue that I couldn't possibly name (baby yellow was the wedding color). The food was really good, I don't know what it was called, but it was the best salmon with quiched spinach I'd ever tasted. Everywhere there were lovely personalized shortbread cookies with a photo of my cousin and her hubby on the icing. There was lots of entertainment - traditional Pinoy dancers with colorful garb, and a Filipino favorite - the "tinikling" dance involving two pairs of long bamboo sticks and a pair of very nimble feet with an overall agile body. On to other points - The annoying emcee kept saying the phrase "at this juncture" to mark out every part of the evening. There were approx 250 guests (I was able to see relatives that I hadn't seen for years and years), and all the bodies in the reception hall made it verrrry hot, and flowing alcohol in the veins did not help. Oh well, it was a beautiful wedding, with a gorgeous bride (my cousin looked amazing, she lost so much weight though, she was skeletal...why is skeletal so fashionable still, eh?!) We left a little early, the party would last all night long, and my darling works all-day today from 5:15am to 9:30pm. I'm glad I was able to attend the festivities, but my distaste for social functions, overall, was reinforced - the mingling, the blather, the dribble, the pleasantries and banter made me want to run for cover.

Were you a bridesmaid? If you have a picture of yourself in a dorky dress, you have to post it... it's the code of the suicidegirl.

As for Mr. RS, he's a tool. Sorry, I suspect that you're kinda sweet on him, but the guy strikes me as the world's biggest phony. I got a lot of respect for honest folk and he just puts on faces. Howard Stern has been goofing on him, playing his "seacrest, out!" phrase and I was joining in on the fun. I like the first half of american idol where they do the search, but when it get's into the audience vote part I lose interest.
