Why do you blog?

Why do you blog?

Is it to share,

to inspire,

to vent,

to connect,

to sort through your thoughts,

to feel less alone,

to make friends?

* * *

This is probably the most active I've been on this site-- journaling almost every couple or every few days, and I'm struggling with WHY I am doing it. Why bother? Is there really a point? For all of you ghosts out there, those who read and see everything, yet rarely post-- I understand you more than those who post constantly.

The futility and pointlessness of writing these words. What for?

Which is more presumptuous-- taking a picture and expecting others would like to see it? Or putting words together to form sentences to convey thoughts that you think others would enjoy reading?

Are bloggers (or writers of any kind) just self-aggrandizing assholes? What makes one person's words more valuable than others?

When you post a picture (or many) of yourself are you suddenly a narcissistic bastard?

"footnote on the construction of masses"

by Charles Bukowski

from The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over The Hills (1969)

//

some people are young and nothing

else and

some people are old and nothing else

and some people are in between and

just in between.

//

and if the flies wore clothes on their

backs

and all the buildings burned in

golden fire,

if heaven shook like a belly

dancer

and all the atoms began to

cry,

some people would be young and nothing

else and

some people old and nothing

else,

and the rest would be the same,

the rest would be the same.

//

the few who are different

are eliminated quickly enough

by the police, by their mothers, their

brothers, others; by

themselves.

//

all that's left is what you

see.

//

it's

hard.

Do you believe in destiny?

Or is "destiny" just another way of saying you have no control over how your life turns out?

Xx
