I am feeling rather nerdy tonight so this blog will be dedicated to my hate of coldfusion, for anyone reading this who cares but doesnt know what i'm talking about. Coldfusion is a web programming language, owned by Macromedia and it is garbage. I'm currently stuck working in coldfusion at work, i do not have a choice, believe me though, after the summer is over i will never touch it again. What i've noticed about the language is simply that:
-coldfusion is designed to be easy to learn and use, not to be logical. Its designed in such a way that people who aren't programmers can make web programs quickly and easily. This leads to terrible, inneficient, un-readable code, a phenomenon which i observed personaly at work while reading a co-workers code and staring at 3 sql queries nested inside 3 loops containing variables named x, y and xyz.
-in coldfusion it is extremely easy in coldfusion to mix business logic with output
-and It is extremely dificult in coldfusion to seperate business logic from output
-when using sloppy coldfusion code on a site that gets a large amount of traffic, it will break. Example: Myspace...myspace is codded in coldfusion and nothing works, i can't count the number of times i've been told that i must be logged into myspace in order to log in to myspace.
I am much happier now that i've deleted my myspace account and joined suicide girls, does anyone know what SG is codded in? the fact that it works suggests that it is not coldfusion...but if it is i may have to rethink this blog.
