Feeling much better than I did in my last post. I think I ended up exorcising some personal demons as a result of this weekend. Also, after watching the antics of some of my friends, I've realized that when women want to act in a "dumb-bitch" fashion, I have to remember to not take it personally. Not that I'm calling any of my friends "dumb" or "bitches," I'm just saying that sometimes they act like both. Especially when alcohol is involved.

I'm not one to blame alcohol for the way a person behaves. People are responsible for their actions. Take this wedding I was just at: most of the people at the reception got good and liquored, and then some of them became idiots. Most did not. That's because some people are idiots, or at least have an idiot living inside them that takes over part time. Most people simply have better control over their internal idiot. I'm not personally a problem drunk -- which is not to say that I've never acted the fool or drank too much for my own good, but I don't become a liability. I don't pick fights or get kicked out of bars. And if I ever did, I could only ever blame myself. Tequila doesn't make you punch your best friend -- you did that. Vodka doesn't make you cheat on your wife -- you did that.

But I digress. I'm feeling much better. I reminded myself of "The Four Agreements," which you can read about in a book by the same name. The premise is an explication of a Mayan philosophy that states Heaven and Hell exist in your everyday life, and it's your prerogative which you choose to live in. The Four Agreements are:
1. Be impeccable with your word
2. Don't make assumptions
3. Don't take things personally
4. Always do your best
I'm no self-help nut or anything, just a fan of philosophy and spiritual advancement. Reminding myself of things like this book just help me gain perspective on whatever crap is clogging my brain. (Also why I started this blog.)

Oh, the wedding was a lot of fun. And the reception was fantastic. (For those of you who may be familiar with Salt Lake, we were on the 23rd floor of the Wells Fargo building downtown. Pimpalicious.) Even though I watched some scandalous behavior and had to take care of some drunk chicas, I had a great time. Plus, I looked good.

I know what you mean about the whole "dumb bitches" thing. I usually just become chatty and proceed to fall asleep a couple of hours later.
