Indeed, I was engaged to a girlfriend for about a year and we went to universities on different ends of the country. Looking back at it, it was a gesture to attempt to keep things together which obviously didn't work (as such gestures are pretty futile). I think maturity has to be present in order to keep these actions from being hollow, and unfortunately maturity is not one of my mates' strong points. He's nearly 23 now, you'd have thought he may have developed a bit further than such rash ideas. But nope. Mind you, I probably haven't either. I just don't have a woman to practice them on.
