Taste the gin on the back of my throat
I pull on your skin, unroll my last pound note
With a twist of fate I twist my hair
I'm a third rate villain baby, and I don't even care
Silver bullets with lipstick on
They kiss my skin like some atomic bomb
As I rise from my 21st century grave
I turn on the TV to get some idea of the day
I just managed to miss the sun go down so I pull on my skin
Take a drag from my cigarette and I start all over again
Pourin' out my heart in a glass for you
This, baby, is all I can do
I spill a little honey now an' again, but then I always do
I'm pourin' out my heart in a glass for you
Dogs D'Amour - "Pourin' Out My Heart" (1987)
A weekend of ups and downs.
THE GOOD THINGS
- Seeing my team let Doncaster outplay us for practically the whole game only to whack 'em with two late goals and nick all three points. Laugh? Well, a few hundred Donny fans with delusions of adequacy certainly didn't...shame!!
- New copy of "Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 2" for my Gamecube! Shall be getting to grips with that this afternoon.
- It's official - I am finally going to get to see one of my favourite bands ever, the Dogs D'Amour, live in December. I've only been waiting ten bleedin' years since I first heard one of their albums!!
- I should've mentioned this on Friday probably but have found out that, thanks to the bungling taxman, I'm due a 500 rebate next month and also that I'll be getting an extra 150 from hereon in. Hence the house hunt is very much back on...
THE BAD THINGS
- Went out with some mates to a "trendy" bar in Leeds and spent the evening feeling like the biggest fish out of water ever. Didn't help that practically everyone apart from me had girlfriends with them. I did try and make a move on a couple of nice-looking females but, unsurprisingly, bungled it pretty badly and ended up storming off in a strop. I guess I'm lucky that one of the lads was a nice enough bloke to come after me and tell me not to be so daft, to stop letting my continual single-ness bother me so much and that we should officially go back to going to rock clubs as of next week. Which is probably a good thing.
- Hundred Reasons gig sold out. Bugger.
Ah well. This afternoon I shall be dividing my time between getting some reviews written and getting to grips with "Ty 2". Hope everyone else had a good weekend.
