There's one thing that I should remember
There is a light at the end of the tunnel...
Therapy? - "30 Seconds" (1995)
So this weekend was probably what I needed tbh - a bit of relaxation and some fun in equal measure.
First up, sorry to everyone who I missed at the Leeds meet - there were a lot of reasons for not going but the main ones were (a) lack of money and (b) I was well and truly shattered after what I can only describe as a really horrible week (see previous two or three journal entries). I s'pose there's an argument that some company would've been what I needed but to be honest, I just think I'd have ended up being really grouchy and trying not to fall asleep which wouldn't've been the best way to make a good impression on people I've not met before. I'll be at the next one, promise.
So what I actually did on Friday was...went to the local for a quick pint, grabbed meself a burger and chips on the way home and had a nice quiet relaxing evening in playing "Super Monkey Ball" and drinking a couple of G&T's. Nice and quiet and an excellent way to unwind.
Saturday, went up to Teesside to see the old man and watch the gallant lads in blue chalk up a great 3-2 win over Chesterfield (only ruined by the most incompetent twat of a referee we've had at the Vic in ages and believe you me, that's saying something). Then last night I went for a night out at Rio's with my very drunk mate which was great fun. Amazingly, we kept up our good pulling record at this place and spent the evening dancing with two very nice looking ladies. Also more proof to my theory that if you tell a girl that you're a musician (which, in my defence, is true in my case) then there's a better chance than not that she'll be putty in your hands for the night.
Suffice to say I think that's an extra two on the attendance for the next Billy Two Rivers gig!
Although nothing happened beyond us swapping phone numbers and both of the girls promising they'd be there when I (hopefully) play the Fenton next month, it's nice to know that after my experiences of the last week there are a few girls out there who regard me as a half-decent catch. Hopefully I'll be seeing her again sooner rather than later.
As for today, going to head into Leeds for an hour or so to do the shopping I didn't have time to do yesterday then back to the house to relax I think.
I'm actually feeling in a much better mood than I have for quite some time, not least because I'm off work for most of next week - as such I shall be getting my finances sorted, having a couple of days out in Manchester and York, going to see Mark Thomas at the City Varieties (which I really can't wait for - if he's anything like as cutting as he was last time he did a show in Leeds it should be awesome), maybe going to see Hell Is For Heroes at the Rocket on Tuesday night and hopefully tying up a few odds and ends as well. Oh and hopefully first rehearsal for me and primate's new band as well...wish us both luck.
The only other blot is that it seems unlikely I'll be going to Stoke next week either now as one of my mates from sixth form who I've not seen for ages is up from London and we're all having a few drinks and a bit of a chat about old times etc. Sorry to everyone concerned but it'll be good to see him again. And don't worry, I'll be down in Stoke for the 30th and the Halloween bash at Resurrection. Now, what should I do for me costume I wonder...?
Hope everyone's okay - speak to you all soon.
