The clock has stopped, it winds me up but I leave it
The air in here is still and cold but I breathe it
The radio sings softly to me
But all the sad songs pass right through me
I'm too lazy to bleed
The Yo-Yo's - "Too Lazy To Bleed" (2000)
Social life DOA. Well, that's how it feels at the moment. The problem as I see it is this - there's usually a group of five of us who go drinking in Leeds. However, at the moment one is having to spend most of his time looking after his girlfriend who's seriously ill (it's nothing life-threatening but basically she's waiting for an op and as such needs someone around pretty much all of the time) one has just got a new gf and is still at the irritating "cheeping lovebirds" stage with her, one has just taken on a new teaching job which is taking up pretty much all of his time both at and away from work and the other has no money as his payday isn't until next week. Which leaves poor old sad lonely single me stuck out on a limb with nothing but my old friend mr pint of Tetley ale to seek solace in at the weekend. And that, it hardly needs to be said, is not doing me any good.
I need a girlfriend. Or some more drinking buddies. Or the self-confidence to be able to go for a proper night out by myself without feeling like a total loser. Or just something to make me feel like I'm not on the fast-track to being a total recluse.
Ah well...England vs Wales tomorrow and I'm off house-hunting with one of the lads (we've got our eyes set on what looks like a really cool place about five minutes from where I live at the mo so keep your fingers crossed for me everyone!
)so at least it's not a totally barren weekend. I just hope my reasoning to "just got a new gf" bloke that going to "Rock of Ages" on Saturday night is infinitely preferable to spending the evening in watching a video and feeding her chocolate...keep yer fingers crossed for me folks...
Yours in despair but preferably in the bar,
Yorkie
