I know someone close could help
But it all still comes back to me
It's just the same old problem and the same old song
You never know what you've got until what you've got is gone
I'd try to tell you what I was thinking
But I don't even know myself
China Drum - "Biscuit Barrel" (1994)
Back here again then. Well, it's been an interesting few days if nothing else... To recap:
FRIDAY - Got paid. Got pissed. 'Nuff said.
SATURDAY: Went into Leeds during the day for a spot of shopping. Didn't get the DVD player but did get a new mobile as mine finally gave up the ghost (after a mere eight months - last time I buy one of those ones I can tell you) on Friday afternoon. As such I'm stuck with a total bottom-of-the-range mobile atm but at least I'll be entitled to an upgrade in four months' time when my contract's up for renewal.
Also bought both of the "Rock Against Bush" compilations for a tenner each which I'd recommend to any punk fan out there. As someone who's a fan of groups like the Upstarts, Neurotics etc, it's good to see punk bands getting political again...if only a few of the ones over here'd follow suit instead of writing songs about getting a taxi in Hoxton on a Friday night which sound like they were recorded in a coal bunker (yes Libertines and Razorlight that does mean you, you useless tossers
)
Saturday night was spent at my old haunt of Rock of Ages and great fun it was too - lots of booze, lots of headbanging and they played "Breaking The Law" by Judas Priest which well and truly made my night.
SUNDAY - Was supposed to be going to Scarborough. Woke up feeling like I was breathing Jagermeister fumes and someone was banging an industrial steam hammer inside my head. Looked out of the window and it was pissing down with rain. Stayed in bed during the morning and spent the rest of the day playing "Zelda - Majora's Mask" on my old N64. I think that's called "downtime"
MONDAY - Got the new Easyworld single which is great - buy it buy it buy it and make this band the megastars they deserve to be. Also went on the traditional Bank Holiday pub crawl which ended with me and two mates eating cheeseburgers in a taxi company office at half past eleven. Good times.
As for today, work's been pretty much dead as most people seem to have decided to take an extra day's holiday. So not much to report.
One downside of the weekend - have decided to break things off with emogirl. As much as I like her, it's becoming increasingly frustrating that I never see her (this weekend must be about the sixth in a row we were supposed to meet up but never did) I feel like I'm at the stage in my life where if I'm gonna be seeing someone I need them around for me which just doesn't look like happening with her and, to be honest, I've never been any good at the whole "long distance relationship" thing so I've decided to knock things on the head and start looking afresh. Not an easy decision but I know in my heart it's for the best.
So...officially single again. Any offers ladies? (cue sound of tumbleweed blowing past in the background). Ah well, it was worth a go...
Hope everyone's having a good week - speak to youse all laters.
