There comes a time in life when you have to make decisions
To mould your future 'cos tomorrow is another day
Well I've been sitting and thinking and I kinda see it this way
I'd really like to be a man at C&A
I don't really care if we're in or out of Europe
And I don't give a toss if inflation's up or down
Just give me a big screen TV and a Ford Capri
And I'll be happier that way
I think I'll spend my time wearing lairy shorts in Scarborough
I think I'll spend my days burning holes in the ozone layer
And when my children ask me "What did you do in life Dad?"
I'll say "Don't ask me kid, I was a man at C&A"
So when the time comes for you to make your life's decisions
And mould your future 'cos tomorrow is another day
Then why not join me in the queue down at the checkout
And we can all be men and women at C&A
Menace - "C&A" (1999)
Well, last night was a bit of a landmark for me. For the first time in seven (yes, that's right seven) years, I stayed in on a Saturday night.
And you know something? It really wasn't that bad. I dunno what it is but I seem to have some weird form of claustrophobia which only ever kicks in on Friday and Saturday night and insists I go out either to town if my mates are or to the pub if not simply because I don't wanna be the sort of bloke who's stuck in when he could be out enjoying himself without fear of repercussions the next morning.
Which, as I well know, is bollocks because there inevitably are repercussions the next morning - wishing you hadn't drunk so much, wishing you hadn't kept on that fruit machine because you were convinced it was gonna pay out with the next quid you put in it.
So instead, I stayed in, listened to music, drank a bottle of wine and a couple of cans of Tetley (plus finishing off the last couple of shots of Southern Comfort with some lemonade), spent a couple of hours playing on "Legend of Zelda" for the Gamecube, read a bit of various books (Michael Moore, George Galloway, Dave Gorman - there's a weird selection for you!
) and, funnily enough, woke up this morning feeling a lot better than I know I would've if I'd gone to the pub and pissed my money away. Okay so I was still slightly hungover but at least my wallet's still got all the money left that it had in it at 8pm last night.
Not much else to report this weekend - went up to Hartlepool to see my team in action (and comprehensively wished I hadn't - we were bloody awful
), downloaded a Windows DVD player type thing (which I'm just about to test on a DVD I got free with Kerrang a couple of months back), did some updates to my websites and later this afternoon I'm off into Leeds for a couple of quiet drinks with some friends.
Not a bad weekend all told. I should do this sort of thing more often.
Speak later you lot.

UPDATE (circa 10:30pm) - Wow, two major life developments in a day, what were the chances?
Went out drinking with a mate this afternoon and had a chat and...it seems as if after a year and a bit of being stalled on the launchpad, I am FINALLY gonna be getting a place of my own again - have finally found someone who I get on with who doesn't object to living 10 miles out of the city and is also keen to move out of the dysfunction junction that equals living with your parents. Hence, as of October/November, I will finally have a place of my own once more! Oh yes...things are definitely looking up...

Nothing better than moving out, especially someone you get one with. I'm living with this guy at the moment (i actually live with 3 other people, but the other 2 are cool) and he started off as a mate, not a good mate...but still a mate. more a pub mate i guess. anyway - i can't stand to be around him now...so..it's not where you live, but who you live with!
anyway dude, good work on the sat night in, just don't make a habit out of it.
easy

Nice one about moving into the new pad!
