Oh but I can't wait to be with you tomorrow
Ramones - "Danny Says" (1980)
First thing on a Sunday morning. Has to be said it's quite a good way to soothe your hangover hearing Joey Ramone's ghostly voice floating around your room, 'specially with a song like that.
So it's been quite a quiet weekend after all. Last night didn't happen sadly as both me and emogirl are short on cash at the minute. However, she did have the good grace to ring me and apologise and say "But I do really want us to do something together - call me later this week after we've both been paid."
This makes me feel both a lot better and a lot worse all at once if you can imagine such a thing. Better because I'm pretty sure now that it's a case of "when" rather than "if" we get together which is definitely a good thing. Worse because knowing this in combination with the fact that I now have to wait some more to finally make that jump across the great divide. I'll console myself by knowing it'll be worth it when it does happen. To give you another lyrics quote:
Well I'll console myself that this life is throwing spears
But there's a growing of the spirit deep inside
In the part of me that feels you getting near
Trying patiently to brave this great divide
And if I fall I won't look down
I'll face the sky and I'll be here second time around
To practice this balance I've found
The Wildhearts - "Beautiful Thing You" (1994)
In other news, we have a minor crisis on with one of the bands who were supposed to be playing our big showcase gig on Monday pulling out and giving us two days' notice to find a replacement - aargh! Currently looks like we'll have to downgrade the thing to a two-band bill and slash the admission price by a quid unless anyone on here knows a group who'd be happy to fill the slot. All suggestions to the usual please.
Primate's suggested I could do another acoustic slot although given that I'm already doing one of those on Tuesday night I said no. Although given that we still haven't got a bill for that night either... the phrase "monkeys running the zoo" springs to mind...
Ah well, hopefully by the next time I update this thing on Wednesday everything will have worked itself out. Keep your fingers crossed for me you lot.
On a happier note...went into Leeds for a spot of retail therapy yesterday and got some cheapo books (biogs of Guns 'n' Roses and the Fall plus a sort of "Brit Michael Moore" type thing called "Pretty Straight Guys" written about Tony and his cronies which looks like an interesting read) plus a copy of the Ramones' "Chrysalis Years Anthology" (3CD set containing da bruddas' last four albums plus a double live LP and from what I've heard of it so far it sounds excellent - "The Job That Ate My Brain" is a song I can soooo relate to at the moment).
Anyway, hope everyone had a good weekend. See you all on the other side of the storm on Wednesday.

Offload away, man! And yes, our little parallel lives do seem to cross alarmingly often... Although I will probably make it to the meet now.
