Well stayin' up all night ain't doin' me no good
It's ruinin' my hair and now it's wreckin' my looks
But ain't gonna make me forget about me and she, yeah
'Cos I'm wired and wide awake
And I'm waitin' for love to come home babe
Dogs D'Amour - "Wired And Wide Awake!" (1985)
Rainy Sunday evening. Just listening to the Ataris ("So Long Astoria") and Voice of the Beehive ("Sex And Misery"). Spent the afternoon out rockclimbing over in Ilkley with primate, emogirl and other friends. It was all great fun actually - really enjoyed it. I really should do this sort of thing more often.
All in all, it's not been a bad weekend - the only blot on the horizon was me and emogirl's trip to Rock of Ages last night never happened - she was feeling really tired so we just went to the pub for a couple of hours instead. But it was nice to just chat to each other for a bit...here's hoping things are continuing to run smoothly.
Spent most of Saturday in actually - I couldn't be arsed to go to the races in the end (possibly something to do with my hangover from Friday night
) so made a late afternoon trip into Leeds for a minor spot of retail therapy. Had a great moment where I found an album which I've been looking for unsuccessfully for ages (the aforementioned Voice of the Beehive one - it's been long-since deleted and usually retails on Gemm for about eighteen quid) for a fiver in a second-hand shop. It's a really good album as well - quite incredibly sad (especially compared to their earlier stuff) but really beautiful in its own way - there's a song on there called "Angel Come Down" which is absolutely lovely and which I've been listening to quite a lot over the last day or so).
That wasn't all either - found a copy of the Ramones' excellent "Braindrain" album for a fiver (the one with "Pet Cemetery" on it) and the new 3 Colours Red one which, sadly, wasn't much cop - first four songs are great but only about one of the remaining six is. Seems a bit strange to me that their old drinking/sparring buddies the Wildhearts came back last year sounding fresher and more energetic than ever while ver Reds now just sound really laboured and tired. Sad.
Ooh and I also got "Bartending for Dummies", a beginner's guide to mixing cocktails hehehe...think I shall be putting some of those recipes into action once I get the chance!
Off to see Acey Slade from the Murderdolls and Antiproduct tonight - will post a report in here when I get back (probably about 11 or so).
Hope everyone else had a good weekend - speak soon.

THE GIG REPORT (added circa 11pm)
Bloody great, that's all I can say. Opening band, Any Given Day sounded like Ash/Foo Fighters on speed and were all the better for it, the mighty Antiproduct as usual absolutely shredded the gaff ("Bungee Jumping People Die!" remains one of the best songs ever) and Trash Light Vision (Acey Slade from the Murderdolls' other band) were also superb, sounding like some sort of cross between Therapy? and Motley Crue. Which is definitely a good thing trust me.
Ooh ooh and I met Alex, Claire and Simon from Antiproduct at various points of the evening. Thoroughly nice people from what little conversation we had (which was usually along the lines of me in shamefully "hero worship" mode going "Oh wow, you guys fuckin' rule!" and them saying, "Thanks."
) Although I do regret not going up and saying hi to their seriously stunning bass player Marina when she was at the merchandise stall signing stuff. Still, if I had done I'd only probably have done a very passable impersonation of a human goldfish and embarrassed meself so maybe it was the right decision...
It's also rekindled my desire to get a new band going - if anyone out there is interested in joining a glam/sleaze/punk hybrid band (an appreciation of the Vibrators, UK Subs and Dogs D'Amour is pretty much compulsory) and is based in the general Leeds vicinity, get in touch. I need a lead guitarist, bass player and drummer - any volunteers folks?
Hmmm...random thought, if farqueue is the emo king does that make me the glam punk king I wonder? Ah well, even if not, it's something to aspire to I guess.
Oh, one more thing, why is it that the girls you see at gigs like these are infinitely sexier than the ones you get pretty much anywhere else? Caz and Vicky, I swear to God, if either of you two had been there on one of your SG recruitment drives, you would have had a field day!!
Anyway, signin' off and gettin' some kip now muthafunsters. Night night y'all.
