Okey-doke then, that Download report...
FRIDAY
Met up with the very lovely Caz and her bro at Leeds station and drove down where we met up with Troubadour, Vicky, Nadine and MrMuddle. Okay, here's my one big complaint of the weekend - the organisation for the festival was truly dire. We met up onsite at around 8:30 and by the time we'd got to the front of the ticket queue, found some space on the campsite and pitched our tents (by which time Nixxx had also joined our crew), it was well past midnight.
Ah well, at least we had plenty of alcohol to get us off to sleep.
SATURDAY
...although only three hours thereof due to the noisy aeroplanes that kept flying overhead!
Anyway, enough of my moaning. Another two hour queue later to get into the arena and we could finally settle back and enjoy the bands. For me, the highlight was seeing Iggy Pop and the Stooges put on a truly righteous set including a mass stage invasion from the fans! Honourable mentions also to Monster Magnet (who rocked like absolute bastards), Ikara Colt, Electric Six (hearing them do a cover of "Radio Gaga" was truly superb) and the ever-dapper Hives although Sum 41 and Linkin Park were (somewhat predictably) a bit crap while the Distillers were also surprisingly off-form - real case of "going through the motions" compared to last time I saw 'em.
Still, a good enough first day.
SUNDAY
Felt a lot less tired mainly due to having five hours' sleep instead of the three I'd had the previous night (bloody noisy neighbours!
). Much better day musically as well - Metallica were superb (just a pity about the short set) and featured surprise guest drummer Joey Jordison, Slipknot surprisingly good, Slayer fucking destroyed the gaff while Danko Jones and Young Heart Attack proved that you can still churn out old-skool rock 'n' roll and be the coolest bastard on the planet.
Oh, and I met one of my all-time heroes, the one and only Mr Ricky Warwick as well thanks to our female companions being the absolute stars that they are getting us backstage!
Oh yeah and trust me, do believe the hype, the SG Burlesque show is great.
MONDAY
So here I am, back in the normal reality (a bit quicker than anticipated after we sneakily cut through a couple of fields to dodge the queue heading offsite
). Tomorrow it's back to signing on and job-hunting and I've just found out the guitarist from my band has decided to quit just as we were about to go and get some gigs booked.
But still, what a weekend! To everyone I saw there, here's to the same again next year! To everyone I camped with (see above), cheers guys I really couldn't have asked for better company.
Now, if everyone'll excuse me, I've only had ten hours' sleep over the last three nights and I badly need to crash for a very long time. Speak to you all soon.

The regal cat queen thing? Well, I am the Queen of the Fish, (as appointed by a number of acquantances) and the Queen of the Fish happens to be a cat. I don't necessarily harm the fish, I just merely tap on the glass of the fishtank with my kitty claws. Or something.
Thought it would be amusing to dress as a Fish Queen for uni's summer ball and it was, 'cos of people having their photos taken with me- should have charged 'em for the pleasure really...
That weekend sounded superb
I'm full of (probably misguided) optimism regarding Euro 2004. wouldn't it be lovely if we actually won the bloody thing for once!
As for your crush go get her! I wish that I kept running into cute little emo girls. Would make for a very welcome distraction.
A Sno-Ball is kind of a tiny bit like a Slush Puppy btw. They come in about a million different flavours, and, like the child that I am, I get hooked on them whenever I'm over in New Orleans.
