I've got three jobs
This is one
Sometimes I wish I'd kept my gun
This country's going down the tubes
I can't afford to pay my dues
Unless you got some sponsorship
ForChrissakes buddy...
Don't get sick
Don't grow old
Don't be poor
Do what you're told
Carter USM - "Travis" (1993)
Oh joy.
That "whoosh" sound you can hear in the background is the sound of the great karmic boomerang coming back around to give my ex-employers a hefty whack on the back of the head.
Around 1:30pm today, just getting ready to go out to York and see my dad (as it was his birthday on Friday and I'd not given him his card and pressie yet - got him a Michael Moore book which I'm sure he'll enjoy as his political views are pretty much the same as mine) and my phone rings. It's the agency I used to work for (but have now resigned from due to the fiasco over my last job) practically begging me to go in to where I used to work tomorrow as the guy who replaced me has apparently gone AWOL and effectively disappeared off the face of the planet leaving no contact details that seem to work!
After stifling my laughter, I said that while obviously I'd *love* to (snigger!
) the fact that I have somewhat more pressing appointments tomorrow with the bank (getting some assistance with my business plan from the nice people there - okay so I know they're only doing it 'cos if it takes off they'll have another account for me and thus be able to take even more money off me than they already do but still any help is appreciated), the estate agents' (hopefully to sort a viewing for a shop property next week - yay!
) and the dole office to finalise my benefit claim kind of prevented me from doing so. Damn shame.
...and suffice to say that's put me in a good mood for the rest of the day...don't you just love those rare occasions when karmic justice strikes with a vengeance on some bastard who's exploited you?
Tonight the plan was to go to a fanzine meeting - hopefully yet another side career (which, inevitably, I'm gonna make sod all money out of but even so...) starts here. Unfortunately, a missed bus put paid to that (but hell, it wasn't a compulsory meeting so I can always go next time). So instead, I'm gonna give this flat a good tidying - it'd be nice to see at least parts of the floor in here again!
And only three days to Download! Currently feeling a mixture of extreme excitement and serious nervousness at meeting so many people I've not met before but I'm sure all will be just fine.
Ooh and before I go, expect some pics from the Stoke meet up in the next few days.
Have a good week you lot,
Yorkie
