Rescue me or here I'll stay
A traffic island castaway
Out in the dark and on my own, shine on me
Lost in the night with no way home, shine on me
The Ruts - "West One (Shine On Me)" (1980)
Well, I'm not sure where to begin really. If ever there was a week which defined the phrase "stop-start" then so far this has been it...it feels like everything and yet nothing has happened.
Okay, so a quick rundown - basically the main development of the week so far is that I'm now an uncle-in-law! My cousin gave birth on Tuesday morning and I now have a little niece-in-law (all together now - awwww
). As such, my mum's up visiting both mother and child as well as my auntie (her sister) up in Middlesbrough meaning I've got the pad to myself. This would be an excuse for serious partying but unfortunately I happen to be totally skint at the mo. Drat...
Also, in two more days I shall finally be free of this dead end job which has been draining my money and my will to live over the last few weeks and has led to my careful financial plans for the year totally going up in smoke due to the company going back on giving me the contract they said I'd be guaranteed within four weeks. I'm seriously angry about it as I've said on here before but I guess all I can do is just move on, take it as a lesson learned and start planning for the future instead. More on that next week...
So...last night in for a bit as tomorrow I'm off to see the great and good Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster in Leeds and then on Friday I'm off to Manchester to get hideously drunk with various northern SG'ers for daisy's birthday (which is today so nip over to her journal and leave a greeting you lot!
)
Anyway, next time I update this I shall be a free man and on my way to the rainy side of the Pennines. See you all then!
