Gettin' high on glue and cocaine
Jabbin' things into my vein
A Lucifer lord is holdin' my hand
I'm pushin' pills to a rock 'n' roll band
Cranked up really high!
Slaughter & The Dogs - "Cranked Up Really High" (1977)
So then, the gig...went surprisingly well. So much so in fact that people are even asking me if I'm gonna do it again! Considering I was fully expecting to die on my arse, not bad going. Only thing that went wrong was that I forgot to take a glass of water with me on stage meaning that by the last song my throat was well and truly parched leaving my voice a bit wrecked. But hey, I'll remember next time...
Quote of the night from primate - "Good set dude but it did go a bit Billy Bragg in the middle!"
Pics will be up here later in the week along with a few from the Stoke meet last week (sorry for not putting them up already but the film isn't quite finished yet!!)
All in all a good weekend then - did some shopping yesterday and picked up a couple of good old-skool oi CD's, watched the Cup Final and then went out to a ska night with some friends, cue much dancing like a total gibbon to Madness, the Beat, the Specials, the Piranhas et al.
Not sure what's happening this week - I want to go and see Ash at the Met on Tuesday but have a feeling that (a) it's sold out and (b) I can't afford it anyway. So I shall have to content myself with going to the Cockpit to take in the '80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster on Thursday instead. Ah well, should be a good 'un either way. And, of course, the SGManc meet for daisy's birthday next Friday - coincidentally the day I can finally safely say I'm an ex-employee of my current job! Yay me!
Not quite sure what's happening on the job front as of yet - have moved over to a different agency following the fiasco with the last lot and they say they may be able to get me a job doing admin in one of the NHS Teaching Hospitals on 7 an hour which is considerably more than I'm earning at the mo. So fingers crossed there...
Hopefully this time off in the next couple of weeks will also let me get a few things righted in my life - first and foremost getting a business plan together for the record shop including arranging a meeting with the bank and various estate agents. I can also catch up with some of these videos and games I've bought but not really had time to watch/play properly lately.
Life has been a bit breakneck for me in recent weeks so any chance to slow it down a bit for a while is most welcome. Hopefully I shall be a much happier Yorkie in the weeks to come.
Hope everyone else had a top weekend - speak soon.
