It was a Friday
The rain was pissing down
I took my Peugeot
And I drove into town...
The Boys - "Kamikaze" (1979)
First of all, thanks to everyone who's left nice comments about my desktop on SGUK. Big "yer alright you" to the lot of yers.
For those who've not seen it yet, go take a lookee!
Today should've been a good day - my wages went through, I've cleared my workload (which was really bugging me yesterday) and after a rather nasty bout of infighting yesterday, the other people in my department seem to be getting on again.
Unfortunately, something inevitably had to come along and stick the nut on things - driving back from the supermarket this lunchtime, I had a bit of a scrape with another car. Basically, the idiot learner driver in front of me at the lights failed to notice they'd turned to green (he didn't stall as his back lights stayed on the whole time) despite me using my horn on him twice to make him notice. After about 45 seconds of waiting, I decided to take the only course of action likely to get me back to work on time and slowly moved round him...only for another car coming along in the outside lane of the dual carriageway to smash right into mine. D'oh.
As it turned out, I got him a lot worse than he got me - all that's needed for my car is a new indicator cover and a new bolt to put the bumper back into place (which shouldn't cost more than about 15-20 by my reckoning) but his passenger door now has a massive dent in it. And, with me being the one crossing lanes, the road laws pretty much put the blame squarely on me. So unfortunately, I think I can safely say that my car insurance is gonna be a lot higher when it comes up for renewal next year.
Oh well...Friday night and the pub beckons - at the moment drowning my sorrows sounds like a very viable option as you can imagine. Then tomorrow am off to a local bands all-dayer in Leeds with my less evolutionised friend primate - we're mates with a few of the bands on there so it should be good fun. As for the rest of this weekend, I'm gonna spend most of it reading through all these "Starting up your own business" leaflets the bank have sent me I think!
Oh and I might be doing a few more desktops as well. Got a few ideas of my own but any suggestions (or requests from SG's for their own personal desktop!) always welcome.
Hope everyone has a good weekend - speak later.
