This week I've seen it through
On autopilot just like you
And now there's nothing left to do
'Cept anything at all
LET'S HIT THE WALL!!
The Wildhearts - "Weekend (Five Long Days)" (1993)
Well, just to cap a brilliant (not) week off perfectly, my car broke down on the way to work this morning! Fortunately, I'm an RAC member meaning I was able to get it started again with a bit of assistance from the nice man they sent out to help me. Basically, a couple of the water pipes in the engine had sprung a week, it was leaking all over the place and if I'd kept on driving it much longer it'd probably have blown up. A narrow escape really. Spent the hour waiting for him sitting in the car reading this month's "Classic Rock" mag and listening to AC/DC and the Exploited on my car stereo...ah well, I can think of worse ways to spend Friday morning!!
So anyway, the week didn't get any worse at least and now it's over and thank Christ for that. This weekend will be spent in promotions overdrive giving Primitive Promotions flyers to any music-based outlet in Bradford that'll have 'em. And again I say to you, if you're in Leeds and at a loose end next Wednesday (10th March), come on down to the Vine for our first ever showcase night - it'll be a top 'un, honest!
Am also helping primate shift his bass from his parents' place to his new gaff (well, the gaff he's technically squatting in at the moment but hey, who's counting?) where the two of us shall have a proper jam session to some old-skool punk stuff (Exploited, Lurkers, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, SLF, Ruts, Angelic Upstarts - you sort of know the drill) and hopefully finally start getting this new band of ours together. Any lead guitarists and drummers in the Leeds area who might be interested in joining West Yorkshire's answer to the Clash (well, sort of), feel free to get in touch.
Anyway, Friday night, what the hell am I doing in when the pub's open? Let's go get drunk!
Speak to you all later and have a good weekend.
