Things are maintaining. Went to a roof party yesterday and watched the fireworks. Good times.

Good times, good times.
linkismyhero:
It does kind of take all day to write them wink I have wordpad open all day and keep reading it over a million times and adding to it. My current entry is loooong, even longer than usual. Next one won't be so bad skull

I am seriously in a funk. This in and of itself is nothing noteworthy. These things happen. The part that bothers me is I have no idea *why*. It's like I've just given up on everything, and I'm going through my day as a pretty much zombie-like automaton.

I've been thinking a lot, for example, about all the things I never got around to doing...

hey, I know whaat you mean. I feel like tthere are no emotions in my body most of the time. Where did they go?
waldo_jeffers:
I hear you! I have been spending the last few years trying to shake the feeling that my life is going nowhere, that I have wasted the chances I had and trying to overcome the creeping feeling of mortality and pointlessness. I have come to feel a bit like life is about simply trying to find something to do to fill the time and pass the days while you wait for the end. I am trying to make myself see things with a more positive outlook instead but there's always that little voice telling me its all futile.

I think this kind of feeling is common among people as they reach their late twenties or early thirties. Its like a kind of psychological preparation for the transition from early adulthood to middle age.

I think that the late twenties through the early thirties is a formative period of a persons life when people reasssess everything they have learned and create the identity that they will have for the rest of their life. Everyone says that childhood is the formative period of one's life, but I think that childhood and early adulthood could be seen more as a preparatory period and the the late twenties through the early thirties is the time when we consolidate our experiences into one unified point of view.

On the one hand it would be easy for me to look back at my youth and mourn what I am losing but on the other hand, I can take a fresh look at my current situation and instead of seeing it as one more step on the road to death, I can see it as the time when everything comes to fruition. To use a somewhat agricultural analogy, our youth is like the time when a plant brings forth its beautiful flowers and its easy to think that this is the most important time. However, the the late twenties through the early thirties is akin to the stage when a the flowers have ripened into fruit which is ready for harvest and frankly, the harvest time is what its really all about. So there you go, you are entering the harvest festival time of your life, so make the most of it!! smile

Oddly enough, I haven't really missed LJ once since I deleted it. Proof positive once again that when I have random whim, I should act on it, even if that whim makes absolutely no sense at the time.

On the shishuu front, I've run into some problems with the moderation feature. (Granted, since I have all of one user that is not me, the problem...

Made an LJ Book then deleted my LJ on a whim yesterday. Sort of difficult not having an RSS reader, but I might grab the one for firefox.

In other news, revamped my personal site, and I'm much happier with it than v1.

Played hooky from work again, as I do most fridays. Crapped out of working out, as I do most fridays.

It's...

I've felt out of sorts as well. Oh well.

Yuck. LJ.
linkismyhero:
Yeah, I don't do well in big groups at all. For the amusement park trip, we kind of stayed split between one larger group and then a smaller group of the rest of us (which included me). While I feel bad that I didn't get to hang out much at all with the larger group, it was kind of a relief also and I spent some real quality time with the others. I actually said stuff, which goes to show I'm coming out of my shell, because in the past I'd be quiet as a mouse the whole time, no matter how big or small my group was.

I forget if I told you this already, but for many many months, I didn't listen to any music at all. Nothing. I had albums lying around and mp3s sitting on my computer, but I just wasn't interested. I "lost touch" with all my favorite bands, and it was only when I felt like listening to Fleetwood Mac on a whim recently that I experienced a musical renaissance of sorts. I'm not sure if I'll have a music-less phase again in the future, but I know what it's like to have favorite musicians that retreat to the backburner for a time.

Did not feel like doing work today. Read a couple of stories for tomorrows workshop. Watched more TV than I'm used to watching. Learned that 30 Days is a VERY good show. Learned Dead Like Me is a VERY good show. (Where was I?)

Last night I learned Batman Begins is an awesome movie. Been consuming a lot of media.

I have accepted the request smile (I'm way shy about actually sending people friend requests but if I were more confident I would have sent you one already.) blackeyed

See, it's particularly frustrating because almost every journal entry I've written recently was done in wordpad first! But then I got a bit off track from my habitual writing pattern and it all went awry. The ONE time I go back to using the update box is the time I lose everything. Of course!

My friend is worried that his Wikipedia page about the lead singer Sarah Cracknell will simply get deleted because it's "not interesting enough" (even though it will be VERY interesting and she's well-loved among fans). He pointed me to a page for a Polish band called Cool Kids of Death and I had to point out that if they let THAT page persist then there's no way they'd delete a page for a singer who has a far larger fan-base. And his page will have tons more info anyway!

The supremely frustrating part is actually trying to edit his sentences for him. He never seems satisfied with my efforts and I don't know exactly what he's looking for. But he's telling me not to get frustrated. He's been working on a section about the singer's style that I desperately want him to keep, but he's dissatisfied with how he's written it. I think that's the part I'm stressing about the most.

I just need to stop stressing so much... but I really want to help make it happen blackeyed
linkismyhero:
I forgot to mention that "Cool Kids of Death" is also the name of a song by the band he's making the page for, which is why he found such a random page in the first place.

Summer is here in full. It is hot as fuck.
Drunk Baby Project always makes me laugh.
Recently decided to start training myself to lucid dream. Going well so far, but I think I have some latent esteem issues that make truly impressive dream feats somewhat out of reach.
I think Crush has something to do with that, but it could be just about anything.

Per Lovecraft's stories, I think what I'll do is get my ass to Best Buy and get a replacement for my near-empty black ink cartridge so I can print out the Lovecraft stories you mentioned.

I used to have some shelves devoted to knick-knackery, but in the end I had to dump all that stuff into my big wicker trunk from Pier 1 so I had more room for books.

Jury Duty went quickly - charges dismissed due to no witnesses on day one. So, I'm back at work - but not for long.

Otherwise, pretty boring shit recently.

That's funy... I don't know how good it is... its a short humor commentary. It was a pain to complete, but worth it.

2.5 chapters left... that's awesome!

Decided to start up a SG group for bookcrossing. Maybe now I can finally start giving books away. smile

Oh, in other news, things are generally: mad or frown or puke

Dunno exactly what's going on with me right now.

Woke up at 7:45 hung over. Took dog to vet for grooming. Fell back asleep. Got a call from work because of a screw up. That always puts me in a wonderful mood. frown I am not a fan of screwing up.

Got bullied into running a D&D game. Normally, this would be a good thing, as being King Dork is one of the few things...

I'm still trying to figure out why you requested my friendship, other than you have met me, and now seen me naked?

hellcatjustine:
ha, they certainly are. I havent really been as active here lately, but I still update my other journal quite a bit.

SGTN is good folks, most of em. My pal Chuck was one helluva cat, but he's gone, and my girlfriend is too. A lot of my friends have left the site, and I talk to them other places.
