Facebook is a strange creature. Not just because of the way huge groups of old, old acquaintances flashmob themselves together in a matter of hours. Though, that's part of it. Recently, the people I went to elementary and high school with (two different groups) have begun to pop up. It's odd hearing people reminisce about a time period that I've basically all but wiped from my memory. The high school group is even worse. I actually got a note from one that said "Sorry I was a dick to you in high school, lets be friends!". I didn't recognize the name, but odds are if he went to school with me, he was a grade a twatwaffle. His profile seems to confirm he's the exact kind of person I would despise, and who likely would despise me. Why in god's name would you want to be my friend.

I grew up socializing on BBSes and the proto-internet when computers were odd, mysterious little boxes filled with gnomes and magic smoke. It was my world, and I have not taken well to it becoming a new public commons.
