My TiVo recorded Pulp Fiction recently as a suggestion; it being one of my favorite movies that's not too surprising. Except it recorded it on Bravo, which edited the movie for time and content. Watching a movie like that in Pan & Scan PG format with scenes cut out entirely was...disconcerting. Next thing you know they're going to replace Jules' wallet with a Hello Kitty version surreal

Speaking of movies, I got a good idea for a website Friday night. I wanted to go see Hero, but in a theatre other than the piece of shit place I've been going to close to my house. I looked at a list of theatres in my area, not really knowing which one was good or not. It's the same problem I've had in other cities; I want to catch a movie without being gouged by ridiculous prices for a shitty theatre setting. Usually it ends up happening anyway. I eventually asked someone I knew that lived here, but I realized how useful an alternative to that would be.

Would you guys go to a website that had theatre reviews? For example, put in a ZIP code and you get a list of theatres in your area sorted by rank and average price per ticket. You could comment on each theatre and list your likes and dislikes. It could have information about screen sizes, seats, sound quality, and ambience (read annoying kid factor). A lot of movie sites do the whole movie listing thing and buy tickets online and all that, but I couldn't find one that had theatre reviews.

What do you guys think, unnecessary or ingenious? smile

Your state SUCKS.
My mom just called me and worried the crap out of me and now I'm all paranoid. For whatever reason to do with Frank, they didn't evacuate like she believes they should have, so they are going to wait this thing out hiding in their closet in their house. She said they can't even buy gas, because people from the islands went inland and bought it all and they're fucked now. Nothing to board up their windows with either. She called me all, "I just wanted to tell you I love if this bastard comes and knocks our house down!' frown

She said she's all upset because she had a feeling they should have left and now she thinks because they didn't and can't go anywhere now, that something's going to happen and that their house isn't built too well to handle this weather. Fucking Christ. I hate Florida. And I hate worrying.

And I'm worried about my best friend's brother who lives in that town that got totally sacked by the hurricane from a couple weeks ago. She told me half his roof blew off, their trees were uprooted and dumped in their pool, through their windows, and all over their backyard. I don't know what they're going to do.

Dood! A movie theatre review site would be awesome! I say go for it! There is a lot of potential there! You could have a questionaire where people could rate them on their progress on getting people through lines during blockbuster events! Cleanliness, Sticky floor syndrome, Adequate bathroom facilities, creature comforts, quietness, I think you are on the right track there! It seems that theatres have gotten more into profits, and multi-screen theatres, and packing more people in, than creature comforts anyway! Maybe this will be a way to wake the big companies up and have them take notice! I remember, only about 17 or 18 years ago, there was this theatre in Leesburg, Fl. called the Tropic, that had overpadded seats, that reclined back, plenty of legroom, and the best popcorn anywhere! We need to get back to that again! Drive in's too! Those were so cool! They turned all of our nostalgia of the 50's and 60's into flea markets! I wish more drive in's would open again! it was such a cool place to take a date too! Ok! Hows this for a name for the site... Rate-A-Theatre! You could have a slogan of *whats the best in your town? , and have an open discussion forum so people could comment nationwide! I say go for it Ace! Sounds like a winner site to me! On another note: Looks like i am going to be in the path of hurricane Frances! I am going to stay here and ride it out, since I am so far inland! If it becomes a problem, my uncle just built a new house and doubled up on the structure with hurricane supports when it was built, so I have a place to go just in case! Wish me luck! ~~~~,~~,`< THE GATOR eeek
p.s. another thought on the movie theatre site, is to have a pay-pal tip jar! You can justify that by telling eveyone that it is a privately owned site, and not influenced by comercialism, therefore donations are needed to keep it running for your benefit! smile GOOD LUCK! biggrin
