I've come to report that I've found the edge of the universe, and coincidentally, it exists right where I live. How did I discover this mythical convergence of time and space you ask? I went to this plaza near my place that has all your usual chain stores and such to buy gifts for my parents, whose birthdays are 8 days apart, which is just perfect for me in the most financially strapped month of my life.
Anyway, while I was there I decided to spend the day just being outside for change, which is something I haven't done in a while. I ate, saw a movie, spent a few hours at B&N, bought yet more shit I needed from KMart, went grocery shopping, and got a haircut.
Now this is where I noticed things were not entirely as they seem. I had asked a coworker where he cuts his hair, since I was in need of a new place to do so since moving. He informed me of the Hair Cuttery at the same plaza I was at, and that there was this gay guy that was really good. So, while entering the plaza I notice the Hair Cuttery and figure that's probably the last thing I'll do. Yet, later that day, at the other end of the same plaza I notice...another Hair Cuttery.
I didn't think much of it and just went inside, where I see two men waiting at the front desk. Both looked, shall we say, matching of the description given to me by my coworker. I didn't know which one he meant, or even if this was the same store, so I just pick one, and get my hair cut. Oh, apparently my eyebrows needed trimming too, that's the first time I've heard that one, but who am I to disagree.
My last stop was Publix to buy some food. The Publix exists in a sort of roundabout with a few other chain stores. On one end of the roundabout I notice a Subway, which I figure is great cause I wanted to buy a sandwich later that night. Then, on my way into Publix I find...another Subway. In fact, from this Subway, I could actually see the other Subway.
At this point I chuckle, but continue on with my business. When the groceries are in my car, I head home. On my way home, I notice the Circle K at a major intersection near my house, one which I'm sure I've passed several times before. A block later, at the intersection closest to my house, I notice...another Circle K. Once again, they are one block from each other.
Now then was when I realized that I live at a point in time and space that seemingly wraps around itself. It is the beginning, it is the end. It's like God scotch-taped the Universe at that point, and it overlapped a bit. How else can you explain it? I implore you to try.
