Maybe I shouldn't be so mean.
Sorry, Carlos Mencia. I'm sure someone thinks you're funny. I mean, statistically, it's almost impossible that there isn't at least one out there.
Been really into pen and paper RPGs lately. Still only playing 4th Edition D&D with some friends, but now I find myself constantly wanting to try out the different classes. I desperately want to play a...

Shut up, Carlos Mencia.
You aren't funny.
You aren't funny.
Regarding methods to approach a stranger (for purposes either romantic or carnal, or both), a friend of mine told me his uncle's strategy.
Guys at bars often send women drinks. Don't waste your time or money, they get that all the time. Instead, you send them a tuna melt.
That's it.
It did work with my friend's aunt.
It won't help me because I'm not...

I would point out that we tend to regard strange men bringing us food in a bar as a dubious proposition.
Food gifts really work on me[1]. I think they're just the right level of effort; more than enough for to make someone feel special, and not nearly enough to risk being overbearing.
Also, I like to eat. It's a popular position. Good luck with it!

First broken bone that requires a cast and crutches. I've broken toes and fingers before, but that's it.
I realized recently that I have no idea how to ask out a stranger. I never had to practice in college because I started dating a girl in my first semester and that lasted until a year or two after graduation. I sort of knew her through another girl I'd dated before, back in high school, so starting conversation wasn't very hard. "Hey, I know...

'Cunt' doesn't hurt my feelings. Do boys get upset when they're called dicks?

My new computer's spellcheck is out of control.
For one, it just told me spellcheck isn't a word. If spellchecker is a word, spellcheck is a word.
But before that, it tried to tell me that "doesn't" isn't a word.
Yeah. Doesn't.
I wonder if they just threw in a couple dozen words from the dictionary and left it to me to add the rest.

It just gave me that "doesn't" bullshit too.
Do you use Firefox? The new firefox is being a bitch about spellcheck lately.

It's the new edition of firefox. It's giving me hell too. I just typed "spellcheck" and it isn't a word but "spellchecker" is.
Bizarre.
I've been journaling to her since before she was born. I have mountains of pages for her to keep, and I might include the blog in that too. I just don't know what to think about it all. I don't know what to tell her in letters. She's only 16mos old right now so she's definitely too young to know what's going on.
Thank you for your comment.

An unavoidable side-effect of atheism is lack of belief in an afterlife. There exists no scientific reason to believe that any shred of self-awareness or thought remains of us after death. This is what scares so many people away from atheism. They don't want to die. Not for real.
I don't exactly want to die either, but I no longer fear my own death. I...

heh...I turned when my aunt was denied baptism because she is "living in sin "with my uncle. (they aren't married but I call her my aunt anyway. she may as well be..been round for 14+ years now..) Only thing is, she was in a bad car accident in 2000 and now has the mind of a 12 year old girl and has seizures daily. ( with one a week or so being of the Gran maul type. ) not sure if i spelled that right. AND THEY ARE GOING TO JUDGE HER???? SHE CANNOT LIVE ALONE...wtf eva. is what I said. I'll stick to my sage burnin, herbal healin shamanistic ways of my ancestors, thanks. Spiritual but no god crap in there.
light_bringer:
I've enjoyed your blog here. The concept of an afterlife is something that I struggle with as well sometimes. The curious part of me wants to know what's next, if anything at all.
Mom's birthday tomorrow. For some reason she really enjoys getting burned CDs, so that's what I did for her. She can't figure out how to do it herself, so she still views them as something with value. It's just as well, I don't have a lot of money lately because of all the ridiculous expenses coming my way over the Summer.
I would feel bad...

His name is Justin, but it's from about 10 years before the name became popular, so he is in the same boat as you as far as names go. I'm Katherine. And I can't even tell you how many Kathy, Katie, Kitty, Kate, and/or Kat's were in my classes all growing up. Most of my generation shortened to Katie, so my Kathy was a bit different, but I don't want to do anything common because of that. I don't want her to go through that same shit. Although the names I like (and have always liked) are coming back into vogue, like Violet. And I don't want an "in vogue" name either :S
I've been an introvert all my life, but around 2004 I suddenly developed the ability to fake it. I don't really care for small talk socializing, but at least being able to fake it made the whole process simpler and faster.
Without any reason that I can discern, I lost that ability recently. I'm finding it harder and harder to dodge awkward moments when I'm...

I'm a very extroverted introvert, if that makes sense. I'm very social but I'm most comfortable in around only two or three close friends or by myself.

I'm so introverted, I don't even like talking to myself.
My place is a complete disaster and has been for over a week now, yet I can't force myself to clean it. I've had so many opportunities, but every day I'm going to have time I end up wasting it doing nothing of any importance. Like replying to threads in the Silliness board.
God damn. I had discipline for a little bit there. What I...

why on earth would you like her if she turned you down?
wanting what you can't have....? i dated someone who was 7 years older than me. the age difference didn't even matter. in the end i was the more mature person.. go figure.
so about your crush... just imagine her smoking and filling her lungs with tar and talking with one of those voice box things. not so desirable anymore...?

wow i probably shouldn't have laughed so much at that twisted joke, but it was too hard not to!
well i hope the real reason was just timing. but i know i've turned down guys and used that as an excuse before...
the timing does seem pretty bad though. when i was dating that guy who was way older than me, i was in college and he wasn't. and i was 19. but the fact that i was with him made it pretty easy to get in to bars. that was pretty much the only good thing to come out of dating him.
