So regarding the account situation, here's what's going on as I understand it.
I got a new credit card a while ago because someone got access to my information. I forgot to update SG with my new credit card info. SG did some things I didn't like (photographer-gate, specifically), and I made a mental note to cancel when it's time to resubscribe. Then I lost my job, and I decided I REALLY should cancel when it's time.
I get an e-mail from SG saying they can't process my payment, which reminded me both of the credit card information change and the fact that I plan to cancel. So I figure, okay, I'll let them suspend the account when it's time.
Today I get a second e-mail repeating that my payment can't be processed. I'm not interested in getting these e-mails over and over, so I decide to manually cancel.
I log in to do so and find that my account is "Suspended." Given that I can post in threads, make new blogs, view pictures, etc., I'm not sure what "Suspended" actually means. I go through the process to cancel my account, and get a message saying my account will be discontinued in October 2012.

So it would appear, unless they have some other fail-safe installed, that I can view pictures, post, and blog, for another year. Because I had an annual subscription, it automatically extended it for a year, even though I did not make and do not intend to make any payment. At this point, I don't know if my account will actually be effectively an active account for another twelve months, but the evidence thus far suggests it will.
I'm not interested in trying to bilk SG for an unpaid membership. At this point, though, I don't see a way to rectify this - other than to allow them to charge me for the entire upcoming year, which I will not do.
Anyway. I'm going to send an e-mail. If it works, so long and thanks for all the boobs.
