Her: "hey do you have any plans for new years?"
Me: "Nah. Got invited to go to some house parties but didn't feel like it."
Her: "I'm going to my friend's restaurant and getting comped food, wanna come?"

Paraphrased. Wholly unremarkable, except that this never happens. I'm friends with this girl, sure, but she never invites me anywhere. And I'm better friends with her brother - he wasn't invited. As far as I know, she only invited me. We never do anything alone together, and she definitely never takes the initiative to invite me. So why the sudden change?

Based on my history with this girl, she probably wants to get drunk and have someone sober to drive her home. I've misinterpreted things from her so frequently in the past that, at this point, I don't know that there's any hint she could drop that I would take seriously, apart from clearly and without metaphor stating her interest in me.

Frankly, I asked her out already and she said no. If she's changed her mind, it's her turn.
