I threw my annual Festivus party last night, which is why I've been missing a couple days - preparation and the actual party. I know that Festivus has already long passed us, but I think that strict schedules go against the spirit of Festivus. After all, it's supposed to be for the rest of us.

Anyhow, had about 6 people over. Nothing huge. I only have a one bedroom condo. The night went excellently. We started off with some chat for a few hours until we got going with the Seinfeld edition of Scene It! It was six versus one, because one of our friends is a complete Seinfeld maniac. He won.

I told everyone that was coming that they had to sing at least one song on Rock Band. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth over this. When the game came out, one person sang "Charlene" by Stephen and the Colberts (easy way out, minute and a half long song and it's not exactly tricky to perform). I followed up with some real balls and sang Laid To Rest by Lamb of God. Apparently, I'm good at death metal vocals. We played around a bit more with a third friend singing, but eventually gave up on trying to get anyone else to work up the courage and shut the game down.

Two hours later...

My god, they wouldn't shut the fuck up. DRUNKEN GIRLS SING VERY LOUDLY. And they couldn't get enough. "Let's do this one! Oooh - Modest Mouse!! ROLLING STONES!" All that whining about it before, now they're Rock Band's biggest fans.

It was great fun, though. I left notes on my neighbors doors saying that they should feel free to tell us to shut up if we disturbed them. No one complained, but I can only assume this is due to good nature on the part of my neighbors. There's no way those noises didn't go through the walls and ceiling. And they were awful, awful noises.
