Sarah Slean is so my celebrity crush.

I was in the band "Hung Up". We were around from like around 1997-2000 (which is when I moved away).

And I actually knew about the crappy little skate-park at Memorial Stadium.. I forgot about that. It's pretty tiny though. Wasn't there another "sort of" one out by The Glacier in Mt. Pearl too? Not exactly St. John's..

I say make the plugs for $10 each if they're decent. And are plugs really that expensive there? Nasty. Mine were like $20 for a set of 2ga. black acrylic.\

Ugh.. Andy Wells is indeed a dick. I really wonder if people in St. John's are living a dream world sometime. Like, what are they complaining about? Is it the noise? Because legally they can make as much noise as they want until like 10pm, which is when everything shuts down anyway. So, to me, that isn't a good reason for not giving the organizers a permit. Is it the under age drinking / drug use? I'm sure that one has been brought up a squillion times.. But it's not as if any of the drunken/stoned kids wouldn't still be drunken/stoned kids if they weren't at peace-a-chord.

No, it's simply "not in my neighborhood syndrome". The exact same thing that has prevented a skate park every being built. I remember my cousin and his friends petitioning for a public skate park back when I was in elementary school! But every single proposed location has been shot down. "We need a place for the kids to go, so they're not out hanging out in the streets, and getting into trouble. You're building such a thing? Great! Where? In my neighborhood! NOOOO!"

As for the music scene.. I could kinda feel that happening even back in 200 as I said. I know that my band had some troubles occsionally finding anyone to play with because we were this anomoly. We were playing heavier punkrock, and associating with people in the all-ages scene, but we were around the same age as the people in the "older crowd" and had been involved in the scene for years. The older crowd didn't want to play shows with us, or come see us play. The younger crowd didn't want to play shows with us, or come see us play. We had a bunch of "regulars", and the occasional amazing show, but generally speaking it was like pulling teeth. We had a better reception on tour than in our hometown, just because people didn't have all this extra "Baggage" associated with our music.

Kinda stupid.. but that's how local scenes usually are.
