Three day weekend...damn it if every weekend shouldn't be a three day weekend! I found it quite relaxing and decided to avoid the PC a bit, and to occupy myself with other things: grabbing a black and tan at the pub while reading ('Choke', by Chuck Palahniuk), a little drawing, and watched a few movies too. Finally watched 'Lost in translation' - which was excellent! It had been hanging out on top of my TV for some time (courtesy of NetFlix), and for some reason I never felt up to watching it. I think I had to be in the right state of mind to get into it, so I guess that means I'm glad I waited. IFC also screened 'Session 9'. This is the kind of horror flick that I totally enjoy! Ooozing with creepy atmosphere and the plot twists are clever and develop slowly. Highly recommended for you horror freaks out there. Sunday I got fat and lazy at my friends BBQ smile and yesterday I wandered over to the Northwest Folklife festival here in Seattle, right under the Space Needle.

While the festival was ok, the real drama unfolded as we walked out of the
EMP. There was a bit of smoke coming from the side of the building, where the monorail goes through the EMP. We assumed that this was just smoke from yet another festival BBQ. The smoke starteded to get considerably thicker as we approached, and we noticed one of the cars was stopped on the track...as it turns out the monorail was on fire! The doors on the cars were open and the passengers were gathered around the opening, trying to get some fresh air. The smoke by this point was overwhelming. Thick black and reaking of burnt rubber. It was even burning my lungs. The thing that really got me though, while all this was going on, were the panicky idiots running about and screaming. Some of them even telling the people on the monorail to "jump"! Holy shit! I hope to GOD that I am never placed in a life or death situation with people like this! They were more crazed than the people trapped in the car!

Eventually Seattle's emergency response units showed up en masse. It was really quite a scene. No one was hurt, and most were treated for smoke inhalation. I guess they'll all always have a good story to tell about their trip to Seattle, and a near death experience on the monorail.

Men in bunny suits. Strange animals with their bare asses hanging in the breeze...all part of the art of Scott Musgrove. Looks like he's still updating a few sections, but there are quite a few pieces in his gallery.

I have to add this:
Qrime
Animator Motomichi Nakamura. I've gone back to this site several times just to experience it again.
