This is another blog about nothing in particular. I attempted to cut back on my nicotine intake a few days ago. I failed. At least I figured out how to make a pack of cigarettes last two days. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that I failed...I didn't really want to quit or even cut back in the first place. And if I don't have my heart set on doing something, chances are, I won't do it. So I'll cut back when I'm good and ready, I guess.
I got 10 days before I head out for a small west coast tour. I'm trying to finish up as many tunes as I can before I go out there. I need to have some new ammo to lace the people with. I just wish my talent could keep up with demand.
I averted a huge crisis this morning. In the middle of watching a new Grind Time battle that I'd been anxiously awaiting (Passwurdz vs. Locksmith), my computer shut off. Not rebooted. But shut off. Now this is a Macbook. I know they're terrible at heat dispersion. I get that. But I didn't expect it to be THAT bad...until I rebooted and was greeted with the sweet sound of silence. I love it when a fan refuses to function. So after my first-ever laptop surgery, which took half an hour to disassemble and an hour to reassemble, thanks to a 3mm screw that had to go in a hole inside of a batter compartment half as long as my smallest screwdriver. I figured maybe dust or debris had blocked the fan. But nope. Everything checked out fine. Rebooted and still nothing. Which meant that unless the logic board had shorted, OSX wasn't giving instruction to the fan to actually work.
Thank god for Fan Control. Within 9 minutes of boot up, my system reached a critical temperature...78 degrees. Celsius. A minute later after installing Fan Control, it was down to a brisk 56 degrees. Celsius. God bless Fan Control.
