American and Terror - A look into what America has become.
Before 9/11, few people in America feared a terrorist attack. After 9/11, everyone feared a terrorist attack. After 9/11, our country's Administration became the terrorists. They constantly told us we were to be afraid of what the terrorists would do to us. Constantly lifting the color-coded terror alerts to make us believe that we were in serious danger. You stand a better chance of dying from lung cancer than you do being murdered by a terrorist. Drunk drivers kill more Americans than terrorists do.
America is now the biggest terrorist organization in the world. Look at Guantanamo for a moment and ask yourself if what we are doing there could be considered terrorism. Imagine if you were an Iraqi who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now imagine being held at Gitmo for 3 years. Now imagine being tortured. Would this bring about a feeling of terror? I have an ignorant friend who I nearly punched the other day for saying Muslims in our country feel like a slap in his face because of what they did to our country. Obviously he believes that all Muslims are terrorists. If any Iraqi's are as ignorant as he is, then Americans are all considered terrorists to them. Can you imagine going to Iraq as a visitor and being feared as a terrorist?
And yet, a large portion of the country is either too stupid to realize that is what we have become, or they are so arrogant and believe they are so superior that it doesn't matter.
I read a great article the other day. "The Nazi's Never Killed Any Jews." It started out saying just that, and then one day, the did kill a Jew. When does a country cross the line and become an evil that must be stopped. Germany and the Nazi's weren't a bad people, until one day they took action that could not be reversed.
I can't say I've ever respected America. I respect the ideals we purport to support, but not the America I've read about for years. Founded on terrorism (YES! What do you think the Boston Tea Party was?), we were the insurgents who fought back against those who tried to govern us. Then later we committed genocide upon the Native Americans. We took everything they had and nearly killed them off. America has a history of taking what they want, and not accepting what anyone else thinks. We ignore the United Nations. They don't matter apparently. The only opinion that matters to us, is the one that agrees with us. Anything else is a lie and should be discredited. If you are proud of America today, you make me sick.
Germany thought they could control Hitler. Then he committed genocide. We blame the entire country for their shortfalls on that matter. Do you think the rest of the world will only blame Bush if we go even further down this road? If so, may your ignorance cause you great bliss. We call ourselves a democracy. Therefore, we are responsible for our leaders as well. We aren't allowed to count the Iraqi's we've killed so far. Do you think Hitler was counting the dead Jews?
I'm tired of the ignorance in this world. The small world view that people hold for a much larger picture. Understanding is only as important as your own opinion anymore. Our country boasts moral values, but what moral values really exist? When will America draw a line in the sand? When will America win the war against terror, against our own administration? When will America takes its head out of its ass? My guess - NEVER!
I don't fucking care anymore. May America rot in the ground for all I care anymore. Let me be the first to die for what America stands for. Let the president treat me as a terrorist, for I should be the one he fears. Someone who isn't afraid to question him. Let me end up in Guantanamo where I can feel what it is to be tortured, so I truly know why terrorism is alright. Fuck you president Bush. Fuck you Republicans, fuck you democrats. And fuck every last one of you who believes America stands for freedom. Delusions of grandure were once Saddam's as well, and we can see where he is now.
