Today I get to spend my time dealing with pretense. Lots of rich people with nothing better to do than chat about the "Global Market" and how it effect the Biotechnology world. Most of the people there are going to be there for networking purposes only. Which means I have to deal with lots of people who only care about how much they can gain from knowing me. I'm lucky I suppose though, they don't realize I'm worthless yet!

So the news that Kerry didn't do much better in the Ivy League world than Bush did doesn't surprise me. Just because one person looks like a jackass all the time doesn't mean they are any brighter than someone who can speak well. Kerry was an idiot too, he just knew how to deal with people, and listen to them. Hell, on 9/11 I bet Kerry would have sat there with the book for 11 minutes too, either that or crawled under a desk ...

Also in the news. Medical Marijuana is now technically illegal. But what impact does this really have? The states that have already passed laws that allow it to be legal, does anyone actually think those laws will change now? And even if the Supreme Court forces them to change, does it mean they will uphold the new law? All signs point to no. This is yet another reason why I believe the U.S. should be two countries. The divide is growing too wide, and our administration is doing everything in their power to cause the divide to grow larger.

What the American people don't seem to realize is that on every possible subject, this administration is pushing for a conservative view. And I mean every aspect. Think back over the past several years. What issues has Bush tackled? Tax cuts, gay rights, abortion, stem cell research, Terri Schivo, medical marijuana, the Patriot Act, not to mention the Judges he has nominated. Adding to this not one, but two wars, with a very strong chance of more war if we can ever get out of the first two. Our economy and environment are suffering considerably. Frankly, if our country keeps this up, we are going to send the world into chaos. I mean, Lebanon parliament just had elections and the entire parliament, every seat, is being held now, through democratic election, by members of a militant organization, i.e., terrorist organization. I'll say it again. Some countries cannot become democracies where everyone enjoys freedom. America needs to stop and realize that we don't think like people from the Middle East. Look at our own country! The Patriot Act. Why spouting words of Freedom, he strips freedom from us. Done with rant.

I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!

I had to deal with a customer service person yesterday, and for once, I didn't feel the urge to scream at the person over the phone. This person actually knew what they were doing. I was helped, and she went the extra distance even. It was a reaffirmation that this world is still worth saving.

Last night I had an odd selection of music in the CD player. I was listening to Wilco, Tenacious D, Maria Callas, and Joel Frahm. Music worlds apart, but most exceptional. I just layed down in the dark for hours listening to music, almost meditating. Its good for me, I feel a nice afterglow today.

So for a man of few words, lordy I talk a lot.

A few things....

Current politics upset me immensely. However, I have become resigned to the fact that I get violently worked up about them and now I prefer pretending I'm from another country.

Obviously the customer service representative was not representing Verizon. I hate Verizon. I should also own Verizon by now, too.

Maria Callas is good though for all that she is continuously lauded as the "voice of the century" there are much more enjoyable dramatic coloratura sopranos. I suggest you add Joan Sutherland to your eclectic play list.
