So last night I went to see a musical written by my friend Peter. Now, considering the high opinion of myself that I like to carry around, I have to say that Peter is one of the most talented musicians I have the pleasure of knowing. Its one thing to be talented, its another to be perfect, but then its a whole other issue with Peter. The guy is just brilliant beyond expectation. His music just stuns me everytime. Most songs anyone else writes you can assume where the rest of the song is going, but with Peter he just slaps you in the face with homonic and melodic beauty.
If anyone in the Boston area has a chance, check it out Duplex the Musical
The actors provide wonderful performances, although they are not greatly talented singers, with Peter's music it doesn't matter because the flow of such musical grace caused me to not care less.
I can't wait to get together with him now and record the songs from his musical. I want to sit down with him and work on the vocal side, because although his actors did a fine job with the music, I think it would make a world of difference to have a singer do the vocal parts to his music ... plus, I just love working with Peter.
Ha, oh yeah, as I walked into the theatre, what happens to be playing over the house speakers? More of Peter's music. The particular song was from last year's Christmas cookies (an album of songs he records each year at his studio for friends and family), that my sister and I did the vocals for. (Update: link for song at theatre at bottom of entry) I'm the luckiest sonnuvabitch in the world. I'm surrounded by some of the most unearthly talented musicians. It never gets tiring.
Huh, nothing else to note, except that my roommate was super happy I wasn't home last night, cause he wanted to note to me when I got home that while I was out, he had a sex marathon with his girlfriend. I applauded him, then went to bed ... and so ends my night.
