And all is quiet in my life right now. A new year, a new day and a more relaxed work environment. What could be better than this?
Last night I spent playing video games with my friend Ark. That and smoked a little bit of pot. It was a great evening, and I think we will play more soon, because it's just a nice way to spend an evening not thinking. I'm so tired of knowing what's going on in our country/world, because if you are smart, you watch as people turn 180 degrees on issues, but you would have never known it if you weren't paying attention to their special phrasing and key words. I sit and watch our leaders spin words into a colorful work of art. I'm tired of watching it, and tired of watching news that is 'balanced'. They all say it is balanced, but only if you aren't aware of their bias. It's the simple difference between calling the people responsible for the uprisings in Iraq "terrorists" or "insurgents". A simple difference which carries a world of difference. Half the news I read and watch, I sit shaking my head, because you can read into their bias, as simple as it may be, and it sickens me that they use the same spin tactics the politicians use.
Our generation is seeing the worst of this, because we are now divided so intensely, that most people cannot make sense of the issues of the facts anymore. People like Michael Moore, attempting heroics in reporting "Half the Truth, and Nothing But Half the Truth". People like him only make the problem worse. And don't get me wrong, both sides are doing the same thing, but is either one telling the real truth? Doubtful. We have forgotten that both sides make mistakes, and that to err is human. But a single mistake, and everyone is up in arms all of a sudden. People complain about our constant waring in distant lands, but they don't seem to be the least bit concerned about the fighting that is going on here. They are oblivious to the fact that we are becoming political savages. Constant smear compaigns, scandals, and media coverage of menial events that should not be in the news with so many other important things going on. (Don't get me started on the Peterson trial, why that was in the news so much, so often, still stuns me.) When is it enough, when does the fighting end, or where should it start to end. We've drawn the line in the sand, but are we strong enough to blur that line? I'm afraid we aren't. I'm afraid it will only get worse.
The terrorists have already succeeded. 9/11 was the single greatest victory the terrorists could have imagined. Because instead of punishing just those worthy of punishment, we punished Iraq (deserving or not), and divided the country. The terrorists have weakened us in this way. We are divided on what and where money should be spent. And when you command an active military force, there can't be questions as to whether or not they are given the funds they need to secure their safety. We've sentenced many of our own people to die because of this reason. Hindsight is 20/20. That is why we learn from history, so we don't have to repeat the mistakes of those who came before us. Now, we have failed to learn, and I can only hope that this experience will ring loud for generations to come. Although, by then, I believe our country may no longer be the country it is today. We shall see.
That is all for now. Just needed to put my mind into text so I could let it be and think about less depressing things.
It's a wonderful snow falling outside, I think I might grab a coffee and just watch it fall.

as for the funds for the "war" in iraq, I think its disgusting the amount of money we are wasting on this stupid little errand from the president. but you know whats even more disgusting? all the money that is being spent on safty for bush during the innaguration when that money could be going to giving troops the proper armor. if you send men into a battle, you give them proper protection, or you dont send them at all. its just wrong to be so careless with other people's lives.
personally, I'd have been totally for not going into iraq, but instead using the moeny to improve our schools or help the poor and the economy, or to pay back the massive debt bush has incurred.
