So, time to speak again to this lifeless thing I call a journal. Life is quite excellent right now. I'm just superbly happy, and its due to all sorts of factors.

One new bright spot in my life is my wee ipod shuffle, which has brought about some marvelous sounds in the oddest of orders. While on the way to work this morning, I was hit with the song "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" from the musical Annie. I just put a big old smile on my face. Followed that up with some Pixies, Bill Hicks, Tom Waits, Thelonius Monk, Stone Temple Pilots. There were a couple of others on there that I didn't really recognize, but that's what happens when your computer was the server for music in a household of music nuts.

I also fell in love with a girl because of the shuffle. I was sitting on the train, and this lovely voice decended from the headphones. The name of the song was Music Box, and the girl who's voice stole my soul was Regina Spektor. She just made me smile. She was a little bit crazy, but from listening to her voice, she just loves to sing, it just flowed from her like a ball of string from a kitten. It rolled, bounced and was pounced upon. I hit rewind to listen to her again. I just wanted to smile some more.

Now onto discussing my wonderful grilling action over the weekend. First, my buddy Peter and I prepped some lamb in this nice orange/lime marinade that had a few chipoltle peppers in it. Made the lamb, and the rest of the veggies that soaked in it, give you a little kick in the senses. The lamb was incredibly soft and juicy, but the outside was lightly flame kissed to give a nice bit of flavor and texture. It was to die for. But I couldn't die you see, because there was more meat that was just waiting to be eaten. The ribs, oh yes, the ribs. My buddy Sully made this nice sauce that I could coat the ribs in while I was grilling them. It was quite spectacular, it had a bit of sesame oil in it, which gave a strong sesame flavor, coupled with some bbq sauce and corn syrup, it tasted much like the sauce a chinese restaurant would put on their sesame chicken. Only their chicken isn't as good as the ribs, and the ribs were even better because I cooked them on the grill. First I made sure the charcoal was flaming as much as possible, then I tossed the ribs on. I kept putting lots of air through the charcoal because I really wanted to char the hell out of the ribs. After charring the one side, I flipped them over, and applied the sauce to the charred side. Now it was time to char the other side. I repeated the process and flipped them over, covering the new char with more sauce. I just let it cook for a short while on either side then, continuously applying more sauce. When I took them off the grill, the meat was just falling off the bone. The sign of a good rib is when no effort is made to remove any part of the meat from any part of the bone. It should just fall off. And it fell off the bone as smoothly as the sun falls from the sky. Also mixed in there were some delicious cheeses and wine. It sounds as though we had a classy evening, but then we went and watched Beerfest. Class and low-brow meet in few places, but I seem to join them as often as possible.

Then there was my evening hanging out with bcguitar33. He got to show off his awesome new toy. The Nintendo Wii. The damn thing is so cool. I want one. I really do. I worked up a hell of a sweat playing boxing. The whole concept is so entirely interesting. I struggled with the fact that both your hands are required to operate independently of each other in many games. Its like patting your head and rubbing your stomach. It's just not something you're used to, so it could take some time getting used to. But a very cool gaming system overall. I'm terribly jealous that I don't have one. But he wins, because he put in the effort to make sure he got one when they came out. And hurray that he did, otherwise I might not have been so privleged to have the opportunity to play. My favorite was his game Rayman. Shooting bunnies with plungers ... who woulda thought I'd get so sucked in. But those damn bunnies with their evil eyes .... they had it coming.

I finally got a hair cut last night. My salon is apparently staying open late on Thursdays now, and they have wine. I can only imagine the type of gossip that springs from Thursday nights. I doubt I'll ever be found at the salon on Thursday nights for a haircut.

Not a lot else on my mind at the moment. We'll see what this week brings though.
