Have you ever watched your city burn down?
When I was younger I had a friend named Sarina Kirschner. Her family owns a mountain that were going to build their dreamhouse on. I used to walk on that mountain with her all the time..we used to ride her horse...run down the hill and all the stuff you do when you are in grade 7-10. Hell I even took nudie pictures of her on that mountain. It's burning down now.
I watched it tonight. I want to say that it was absolutely horrible because it was, hell it made me want to cry...and I DONT CRY! But it was also the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It's wierd because on one hand I want the fire to keep going so that I have something to occupy my time with, but on the other hand...I dont want my city to burn down. I already know a few people who's homes have been burned to the ground. It's a horrible thought. I know that this is nature taking its course...but the houses are in the way and that is not a good thing. I dont even know how big the fire is anymore, last I heard it was 170 km squared. Fastest that it was travelling at one point was 100 feet a minute...that is faster than a human being can run.
I'm surprised that I havent talked about this before because it is such a prodominant part of my life right now. It's beautiful...I wish I had pictures that I could post for you all to see...but I dont. I will sometime though...it will amaze you.
Most of you probably arent going to care enough to even get to the bottom of this post. But I dont care...I need to say this.
My city is in danger of burning down and I am actually scared about it. If I get evacuated...what do I do? I mean how do you pack 21 years of life into a car? And then just drive away from it all and hope its there when you get back? It's a frightening thought and as I watch this fire get closer and closer to my house...the neighborhood that I grew up in...it is starting to get less beautiful and more frightening.
It's horrific watching entire trees that have probably taken hundreds of years to grow go up in flames....
I dont know what to say anymore.

You're in Canada. Western... British Columbia? I would offer you a place to stay, as a Minnesotan, but you're too far away from me.

We all are here to experience different things in our lives and this is something you are here to experience. I'm not sure whether I'm glad I am not you or whether I wish I were able to partake in the experience.

Good luck and stay alert. Fire can hypnotize humans. Be strong.
