Historically speaking, I am somewhat of a luddite, like some geek-like creature lacking the technical skills stereotypically associated with geeks. For example, I can't figure out how to make photos smaller than 100 mbs so I can put them on my profile. But that's one small example ...
I am mistrustful of technology. I think we tend to become excessively dependent on it, and in some ways it weakens us.
For this reason, I have shunned Internet communities, like blogs and boards and chatrooms and the like. They always struck me as silly and artificial.
However, when I signed up for this site and began navigating it my thoughts on the subject began to change. I would read some of the posts and journals and discover people who genuinely cared about each other, entertained each other, exchanged ideas. I began to check out some of the groups and found the same thing.
I never thought I could come to care or meaningfully communicate with people through a Website, but I am. It's amazing that I am forging genuine friendships with people I have never, and probably will never, meet. That I really care about them. It's all very strange to me.
I definitely overthink things. It is a flaw of mine, and I definitely feel kind of caveman-ish, like I've just been thawed from a glacier and insterted in the modern word ... but I am liking this ... and I am liking all of you. surreal

The way I shrink images from my digital camera to put them in my profile is through the program you probably have on your computer already: MS Paint. If you click on Image (at the top), then Stretch/Skew, I've found that reducing it to 20% of its original size is a good size for the Pics folder. Your camera might spit out images that are smaller than mine, so adjust to taste. wink Does that help?
