I have no idea to whom I am writing, which makes things quite interesting.
I live in Aurora, IL, and have for about three years. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago in a rough little neighborhood around Marquette Park. Many people even from Chicago have never heard of it. It's got a storied history of violence and racial strife, but it's still where I'm from.
I'm a magazine editor and writer, now working for a non profit in the area. I'm 29.
I am pleased to say that after a long, painful battle I have won sole custody of my two beautiful daughters. While they lived with me anyway, their mother's bad decisions endangered them more than once and I had to do what I had to do. After a year and a half struggle that nearly bankrupted me I finally won, and the girls and I can at last move on. It's like starting a whole new life.
I don't really date, though I'd like to. It makes for lonely late nights, but my daughters are always my priority. This is where I should be and were I want to be.
In free moments I write. I am working on a longer piece now that is far from finished about a teenage punk who loses his best friend to racially motivated violence. Progress on it is slow, but at least it's coming along slowly but surely.
I'm always ready to make new friends, and I'd love to hear from some SG people out there just to chat or whatever strikes our fancy. take care ...
