Right now I'm peeling a few potatos and getting the house feeling a bit more Channukaish. The latka smell is so comforting. Im looking forward to some apple sause and sour cream... yum. But its too early to have Channuka, too warm... too not winter. The rain is helping a little bit... so, i've dimmed the lights...ive got some Machina playing and im getting ready to light my candles. This is my Robot Menorah.
he looks just as disco in person.
I love Channuka. I know its a small day religiously, but for my family it was a time for us to connect with each other. We put more effort into Channuka than into our birthdays. We never gave gifts. Still dont really. My mother gave me her old answereing machine... but we cooked, we sat by the fireplace, we sang songs, we relaxed. It was indeed our ownlittle festival of lights. What can I say, Im an american too.
I fucked up. Today I had to buy something
I'm a bit disappointed in myself for this one...but I needed channuka candles. Bummer... I guess I'm a bad protestor, but at least their god will forgive me on this one... hehehe....
Happy Channuka everyone. I will think of you all tonite as I I will 'spin my dreidle'...*blush*
