It is 80 at night and Warm gusts of wind shake my windows and knock out my power. It's the kind of weather that invites the belief in spirits that roam the earth and a magic I cannot fathom. A sudden flash in the sky is accompanied by a sonic boom...dust in my eyes, I walk down my street and wonder which tree limb will snap first.

riding my bike to class the other day, a gust of wind knocked a tree branch that plumeted to the ground...and hit me on its way down. What are the odds of being hit by a branch while riding at about 15 miles an hour? I think the spirits were trying to tell me to go home and get back in bed...
