I watched this on the discovery channel today. one of my friends who was watching it with me didn't believe it was real. the guy was so weird, i laughed the whole way through. it was supposed to be poignant and moving but i just thought it was fucking hilarious. this guy spends 13 summers in Alaska doing everything with wild bears that your not supposed to (pets them, talks to them, approaches them, tells them he loves them repeatedly ) and what happens? they have to remove him and his girlfriends remains from a bears stomach, they take him away in garbage bags!!!!! yes, human tragedy is sad, but there is this scene where this guy goes "what the hell did he expect?" and frankly, i concur. he thought he was better then everyone, that he didn't have to be careful, that he had a special connection with them, that's all nice and good but.... come ON! in the end you are not god, you are food to them. its great because the bear that ate his ass was one he video taped and the whole time hes saying how mean the bear is and often the older ones who are desperate to survive are the ones who will actually attack and kill humans for food.... and then it ate him, at night, while he was sleeping, along with the poor girl who followed him out there.
