Today I was sitting around eating lunch with my friend Brian inbetween he working on a new installation and I painting away at the new office. He's in the middle of working on a media installation in NYC that will involves a giant cage, directional speakers that react to how close you get to the exhibit, and some giant flatscreens that project fuzzy images of some Indian woman preaching and some other famous televangelist in the States. It sounds interesting and it's kind of cool to see the progression.
... anyways, we were trading back and forth some cool exhibits and installations (well, what little few that I could remember viewing) and he mentioned a woman by the name of Camille Utterback, and how her interactive stuff is just AMAZING.
Luckily enough I remember to email myself a note to check out her stuff, and I must say she IS beyond AMAZING.
Seriously... Download some of the videos about her work... TEXT RAIN is fucking badass, especially when gallery attendees start bringing in household objects to fuck with her work.
Image stills just dont do a damn bit of justice to her work, but here's a few anyhow:
And did I mention that ARC TANGENT turns people into human PONG paddles?
How cool is that?
Sorry, this is just me being impressed.
edit:// Ahh... just added another 512mb of RAM. yey!

I can't find a url for the life of me now, but what you metion in your jounral reminds of this stuff I saw once, it was a projection of colored balls on the floor and you could walk in to the area and "kick" the balls but and they would react as if you really did, and bounce of the other balls. it was really cool shit. but makes for a not so good story with out a video .. yah I suck. .... mommy don't make me call child service.
