==Things I have never done and probably won't==
- Compete in an amateur boxing match
For several years I was a dedicated boxer, in serious training with the idea of competing as a middle weight.
But, too old, too slow, and I started too late. I was eventually injured quite badly (stress fracture in my wrist, cracked sternum from an overzealous sparring partner). Not to mention the fact I was starting to get quite bad headaches from being punched in the head too many times.
- Have sex with a total stranger
Sitting quietly, minding your own business in a cafe or a bar or the state library or somewhere, then you catch a stranger's eye and the next thing you know you're in a storage cupboard (or similar) going at it. I am bad at just having a conversation with a stranger (I work with computers and not people for a reason) and I am devoted to my girl. And perhaps this only happens in the movies anyway. The idea gets me a bit hot though :p
- Be a rock star
After playing the drums since I was a teenager in many bands, I realised I will probably never be a rock star. I still like playing though. One of the benefits of returning to Melbourne is that I get to play music with my best friend again (we have been in bands together since sometime in 1998)
==Things I don't plan on doing again==
- Marry someone after only knowing them 4 months
Ah, the mistakes of my youth. Except I was old enough to know better, technically.
==Things I am *totally* going to do==
- Make a living from my own software
After years of working for other people, I am finally out on my own.
- Live in Berlin and/or New York
With any luck, this is related to the software vision above. If I have my own software, I can theoretically work anywhere in the world.
- Write a novel
I haven't written much recently. My problem is that I write when I am sad, and I just haven't been that sad in the last year or so. Which is a good thing.
