This needs an update.....
It's been a busy week i suppose...
Monday...Is day off from uni and i had a stoopid poster to make for communications skills (learning how to make a cv and about staying in science after our degree and preparing for interviews *rolls eyes*) It looked really cool...printing it out was a pain but i got it done!
Tuesday....full day of lectures.....it didn't drag as badly as it usually does so that wasn't too bad...an ok day in all
Wednesday....lectures and then in the afternoon had lunch with my friends and then we played dance mat and shooting games all evening
Thursday....lab/project...We have made oil in water (o/w) emulsions and are measuring particle size (droplet diameter) with a master-sizer machine which measures light scattering!
The oil is heptane and the surfactant being used is Aerosol OT (AOT) and we are varying salt concentrations of each solution to see how this varies the droplet diameter (sounds thrilling doesn't it) we spent all thursday faffing with the fucking machine! It's so damn annoying! Noone in the department has used this particular machine as it has been loaned out for ages and it's so old and slow and i want to smash the damn thing with a hammer! It fucked up more at the end of the day so we just thought fuck it and left! Was a rough day! Just had a lazy evening after that....
also got a text from someone unexpected.
Friday....been faffing with the machine again all day....after much suffering and remaking of the emulsions...they had to settle so i went to lunch with my friends...we are sick of where we usually eat so we decided to try the pub over the road from uni....it's really nice inside and i had a pizza which was yummy! We also had a great laugh....i keep meaning to dedicate a journal to my friends because before this i don't ever think i've had proper friends that i have been myself in front of and been comfortable with....but i really get on with these people and they like me for being me...however mean/stroppy etc i am feeling! I love those guys! Anyway after dinner it's back to dreaded lab and we had to faff for a while longer as the machine was still fucking up...then at 4:30pm we finally get some proper results...and the emulsions coalese over a short period of time so we had to run all of the samples today....so i felt like uber nerd staying in lab till 5:30pm on a friday! Oh dear!
Anyway i get home from lab and my friend's are going to the law ball....i'm not up to the bus trip and plus i can't afford to get a ticket and a new dress etc etc then have to buy drinks/snacks...so i hope they have fun. So this evening i have....hoovered the kitchen, cleaned out the mush, hoovered my room twice, trimmed my hair (to keep the ends all nice and healthy), showered and deep conditioned my hair, shaved etc and here i am!
So my plan for the weekend is to do a little research work, phone and yell at my bank as my bank card STILL hasn't arrived and play games (shenmue 2...i am in serious love with that game!
