I feel bad posting two photographers back to back with nothing of my own sandwiched between.

Rest assured that I have plans to produce a shot similar to Diego Uchitel 's black and white previously posted. I believe, at the moment that I could light it correctly, but I think the only way I am going to get my hands on hair like that is if I drop change for a wig.
So that's the plan.

Anyhow, on to the show! Today's photographer is *drumroll please*
.
.
.
Nicolas Moore!

He often employs a technique that I first saw in Playboy Magazine. I'll allow these shots of Diane Kruger to demonstrate.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The first appears to be lit with a single beauty dish, but her cigarette and chin betray an additional light, high and slightly camera left.

In the second shot, attention is drawn to her face by a key (light) high camera right, while a finely controlled, considerably softer, lower left light pulls attention into the rest of the frame. (The second light here is a stop too bright for my taste, but I am confident Nicolas wanted it that way. To each their own!)

The third example is much similar to the second and in my opinion shows the power that this type of accent light can have. The image has undeniable sex appeal due to the fact that the darkest and brightest parts of the frame are centered over her nether bits. Tonally there is a big "target" placed over her legs with a near black triangle right in the center. Nod worthy is her golden hair which valiantly vies for attention, coming close, but never achieving dominance.

Yes, that IS that Mandy Moore. (Sorry it's a tad cut off - LINK)

And here is the lovely Scarlett Johannsen.

The above mentioned technique is in all of these photographs. smile
