When I hang out on message boards that aren't based around adult entertainment like this site is, I seem to end up in a lot of arguments over strippers and sex workers.
I am not a part of either industry in any manner other than an observer, but I do not trash on women who make a consious choice to be a part of the industry. (it's somewhat of another matter if you feel trapped by the industry and do it because you don't have a lot of other choices) The majority of women I know in the industry are not degraded in anyway by what they do.
Anyway...I think it's interesting that the more closely an act is related to sex, such as stripping or pole dancing, the further away from "art" people want to categorize it. art is subjective...it's definition really depends on who's looking at it. there are plenty of "artists" out there whose work is deemed pornographic by some, but to which the artist stands by as "art" and nothing more. However it often seems that, if something is too sexy it's not "art". IS this just puritanical bullshit or what? So is sex (always) dirty? Is sexuality shameful? if you said no to either of those, then why can't sexuality be art? Why can't sexuality be ART!????? Some people are so afraid to go there. is it purely the exchange of money that people have the problem with in regards to stripping or is it the act of being nude itself. cause I really don't get it. We pay people for entertainment all the time. but if the entertainment is sex/sexual well then it's BAAAAAADDDD.
I'm just really liberal I guess.

bronson:
the way i see it: who held a gun to anyone's head? if someone wants to work in the industry, that is their right and more power to them. I hate these people who try to cry foul when I think it's really the people spending the money on the products of the industry that are being exploited...in other news, i'll be at the shop til 9, so that drink may be just what i need!
