Long awesome night.
Got the call from a friend of mine, Nick, saying he was up from NYC for the weekend. So I hopped in my car, and drove the hour and a half to get to my old hometown to see him and another buddy of mine, Jeff. At first we just planned on getting together for a beer, but it turned into much more. Went to a sports bar, where we got to see the exciting Sox game, and where Nick's sister was hitting on Jeff.
It happened to be karaoke night, I had about 9 beers in me, so I was down for some butchering of songs. Nick sang "The Real Slim Shady." He wasn't bad, except he got off by about a line at the beginning, and couldn't get caught up. Somebody actually booed him. I sang Beck's "Sexx Laws." I did pretty good, some lady yelled at me to "take it off." I kept it on, but I did appreciate the compliment.
Then we were on our way out, but got caught up talking to some British dude outside about Gordon Ramsey. We came to the consensus that Ramsey isn't a dick, he's just brutally honest, and usually right.
A Wendy's run was next. I left the keys in the ignition so we could sit on the curb and eat while listening to tunes. Of course, when we were ready to leave, the car wouldn't start because the battery was drained. We're idiots. Had to call AAA because everybody I could call for a jump was sitting with me. No worries though, it just gave us more time to talk.
Nick convinced me, or rather reinforced what I had already decided, that I should go to concerts by myself. Of course, if I have someone to go with, that's all the better, but I figure it's better to see a show by oneself rather than regret not going later.
Nick has a play coming up in a couple weeks that he wrote and is starring in. I'll probably head down to New York for that. It'll be fun. We don't see each other nearly often enough anymore.
Definitely bedtime now though. 4:30 in the am. Could be a while until I actually fall asleep though, considering I drank a cup of coffee and smoked a ton of cigarettes on the way home.
Looking at my profile pic too. That is in dire need of an update. I think that picture is a good 3 or 4 years old. And I look like a fucking giant in it. Like not fat, though I am fat. But I look enormous there, like I'm 7 feet tall or something. What sort of weird perspective is that?
Also reading older blog posts. Like that one where I said my mum was moving, and I'd get the hell out? And my friend Matt was going to get an apartment with me but I thought he'd back out? Well, in April, he backed out. Shock! I'm still living with mom, hating it every day, but I need to save my coin so I can pay for school to get a degree. It's miserable living here though. For example, it's not like the ladies dig me, but even if they did, I'd have to find a way to hide the fact I still live with my mother from them. Nobody wants to date a dude who still lives with mom. I feel like George Costanza, only with less privacy...
