Worst birthday ever.
I have finally over come my fear of being found by the man that abducted me, and have turned to the local news station for their help in my case.
Here is what I sent them:
About 2 months ago I was abducted and robbed. I was persuaded via threat to drive an unknown man to "the hospital" where "his wife was". I told the man no and that I didnt have any money, as I did not believe him. He refused to leave my property and I was in front of my apartment door unloading groceries, while my car was still unlocked. For fear of him breaking in or sticking around too long to put my roommate or fiance in danger, in case they came home, I agreed to take the man to the hospital. He hopped in my car and had me drive him to "his uncles house" where he received a bag of little white crystals, in which I was later informed was crack. He then was forced me to drive him to Portsmouth where I was robbed and held captive for 3 hours while he smoked his crack and had given my possessions to other strangers for whatever reason. Then, I refused to carry on any longer, and he let me go. As I was driving away I saw a police officer pulled over and asked for her help. I drove her back to the house I was last taken to, but noting came of it.
Because I am alive, Virginia Beach police refused to help me. They say it was not abduction because the man didnt touch me or point a gun at me, though the definition of abduction is "the criminal taking away a person by persuasion (convincing someone--particularly a minor or a woman he/she is better off leaving with the persuader), by fraud (telling the person he/she is needed, or that the mother or father wants him/her to come with the abductor), or by open force or violence. Originally abduction applied only to protect women and children as victims. Currently in most states it can also apply to an adult male. In fact, in some states like New York abduction meant the unlawful taking or detention of any female for purposes of "marriage, concubinage or prostitution." Kidnapping is more limited, requiring force, threat of force of an adult or the taking of children. " My mother then called the Portsmouth police and they agreed to file a report, but did not get around to agreeing to finger print my car for another week. By this time, the fingerprints were gone, and I have no longer heard anything else on the case.
Since then, I have had 3 attemptive break ins at my apartment complex, but each time I did not call the cops as the people left when they heard me yelling for my dog to calm down. Also, I do not trust the police to come and take me seriously. My apartment refuses to help me or take any responsibility, though the man came at me from a gate that was supposed to be locked on our apartment property. They also decided not to inform the other residents of my misfortune, though an employee at the neighboring Dollar General was attacked previously that week as well (on the other side of the gate).
I had put off asking for you help for my own safety reasons, but I cannot any longer. No one is taking any responsibility, and I do believe that had I not cooperated exactly as I had, then I might not be alive to warn everyone now.
Then, tonight, I was pulled over for turning right on red "without stopping", according to Officer Hall of Virginia Beach. I, however, did stop and was not pulled over for about another half a mile. It is quite clear that the officer was only trying to meet his quota, as he knew it was my birthday, I did not run the light, and he knew I had recently been abducted as I explained that I could not locate my registration since my belongings were moved around through trying to finger print my car. He also informed me that I had to sign my summons, and that would mean me pleading guilty. I did not want to have charges pressed for not cooperating, though I did not want to plead guilty.
I do not feel safe in a city that will not take the abduction of a 22yr old girl seriously, but has no problem taking her to court over a traffic violation she did not commit. What is more important? Trying to weasel away my money through court fees when a crime was not committed, while in return the drug and gang related activity grows, unscathed... Or the safety of your citizens and spending tax dollars on making Virginia Beach safer instead of on petty traffic laws.
I need your help to let people know what this city has become. I dont want my belongings back from the abduction, I just want everyone to know that if this happens to them, and they cooperate and live, nothing will be done to secure their future. The law obeying citizens will still end up paying, one way or another.
