I was wrong. Today is absolutely delicious. I brought my huge bags of laundry out to the car (to take to the washateria) and everything was suddenly gorgeous. Clear skies and a breeze to keep away the smell of car exhaust and fast food that permeates our little industrial corner here (there are no zoning laws in Houston, so there are strip malls everywhere). It feels like fall, which I LOVE. It's nothing compared to fall in the South, but it'll do for now.

Tonight I get to have pad thai! Can life get any better? Dad's taking me out with his lawyer friend tonight. Our Thai place is in a tiny house, and it's run by two sweet old ladies that always give us dessert. I'm going to miss it when I move back home.

My mom left me a million messages this morning because my basset hound Sherlock got sick last night. He decided that my brother's vitamins were tasty, and ate 70 of them, so my mom had to call poison control and give him peroxide to induce vomiting. I feel bad that she has to keep him for me. After I moved out here in June, he was bitten by a snake in our backyard and had to have surgery. She's been very good to him, but I need to go home and take care of him. He's my baby.

I'm going to either draw a horse or work on my Hemingway story, or both today. I am going to do something pleasant because it's too pretty outside not to be happy.
