Tonight the girls at work and I decided that heterosexuals need a bandanna system for indicating our preferences, too. Something like what gay men use, you know, a pink bandanna in my pocket means I like a bear on bottom who'll dominate me outside the bedroom or some shit like that. It would make things so much easier for single people if we could just own our kinks and let the world know what we like. Then we realized that's what we should really be doing anyway (the bandannas would just make it easier).

We obviously stay very busy at work.

The dog I wrote about yesterday is doing alright. She's very old and is at that point where nobody would fault her owner for euthanizing her, but she's still going. Her pancreatitis is resolving but she's still painfully arthritic, even on lots of meds, and she's got dementia and can be pretty aggressive. The vet is everyone's least favorite. I'd heard rumors she was money-grubbing and she made herself appear that way whether she is or not. Fortunately the other vets aren't like her at all.

Started Zadie Smith's On Beauty today. Fabulous so far, as I expected. Reading her is like entering her universe, where everyone's complicated and clever and even the unintellectual characters have meaningful inner lives. Just like real life, I suppose...

Lots of good plans for the weekend. I'll be happy if half of them work out.
